The General question is still valid. Regardless if he using a old OS. Hopefully they will leak a XP version.

Show a little tolerance guys. I know it is The General. But if you flame him, he wins. Giving him the info he asked for and nothing else will not kill you. Exercise some self control.

Agreed, some people still like to play around with older stuff.

There is no harm in it.

I still have an XP rig I mess around with sometimes. :)

I decided to give these drivers a try so I could enable AA in Mass Effect 2. But it seems I'm getting really bad screen tearing now in ME2. I double checked and confirmed that vsync is on. Even used D3DOverrider. Not sure why it's looking so bad. I did not have this problem with the 10.2 drivers.

So all companies should use Windows 7 instead of XP too...?!?

To get on topic, the driver performs well in all teh games I tried so far.
There is a minor issue with DX10 games thou, some textures are flickering, like boxes near the selling npc's in Hellgate London.

I have vsync enabled in the game and all is fine. Not using D3DOverrider. Both with 10.2 and 10.3pre.

Anyone having problems running C&C Generals on Win7?
If I start the game it says: Sorry, a serious error has occured.
I'm already running in compatibility mode and with patch 1.8.

    I'm running an HD5470 Mobility.

Well, my performance definately incresed with this set, however DX10 games are missing key DX10 features. It is most noticable in games like AoC, in which the DX10-ness of the 10.2's look awesome but run slow, but the DX10 on 10.3 looks like a modified DX9. I believe they cut a lot of corners, forcing certain features as disabled (even if you have them ticked to on) for the sake of extra speed.

What I did: doesn't matter but for those interested.

Ran these on Windows 7 Utlimate 64, 33.FPS from 28

Ran these on Windows 6 or Vista 32 37FPS up from 34

Ran these on Windows 6 64 Ultimate FPS 33 from 33; however turned off DWM and got 1 extra FPS.

What I tried, updating from 10.2 straight without removing them, and no difference in FPS using Cinebench 11.5.

On each of the other systems other than Windows 7, I did fresh installs and installed them dry as in not updating from 10.x.

What I tend to do is, if 10.2 then can do straight update and find no issues.

But, if coming from 9.12 to 10.1, and want to update to 10.2/3 have to do clean installs, use driver wiper software after uninstalling. This kind of puts a kink in Windows is what I noticed. So, to get a truly fresh start remove all ATI drivers including SB, USB filters, NB filters and do a driver wiper plus. Then run a full windows session without drivers from ATI but from MS instead play around in it for a full hour. Then, reboot, defrag, tune up and then install ATI SB, NB filters and the other stuff and then install Monitor drivers if they exist and then install ATI CCC 10.3 and you should have a few frames more.

Turn off unnecesary hogs when running benchies, because these influence your benchies. Clocks, clocks, clocks. If you have lots of hardware peripherals, disconnect them and turn off monitors that check for hardware inputs such as usb plugs, firewire and sd memory these things. They work to a disadvantage. While your benchie tester is running, Windows timers and checkers are working in the background, contrary to popular beliefs. Otherwise how is your mom going to enjoy her twenty new hardware devices?

    That's just you.

10.3pre works perfectly fine and performance is averaging 70 - 80fps. Infact, the 10.3pre's are the best driver ATI have released to date.
