Hey Guys, Here is some information on a new card that was released a few months ago and has some interesting hardware and features. This new card is called the Cantatis Overture 192

This is a stereo card with built in Headphone Amplifier running BurrBrown DAC's and opamps.
    Here are the specs:

    Specifications

    Outputs: Analog - Headphone
    Dynamic range (A-weighted) 132 dB - 124 dB
Signal to Noise (A-weighted) 132 dB -125 dB
    THD+N @ VOUT = 0 dB < 0.0004% < 0.0005%
    Frequency response - 2Hz to 22kHz +/- 0.2 dB +/- 0.4 dB

    Features
    • Analogue outputs - nominal 2.3V rms on studio grade, gold plated RCA female connectors.
    • Sample rates - 32kHz to 192kHz (automatic or user-selected up-sampling).
    • Digital output S/PDIF - optical (TOSLINK) and co-axial (RCA) outputs at up to 192kHz.
    • On-board expansion ports for additional audio outputs or inputs.
    • PCI 2.2 compliant.
    • WDM drivers for Microsoft Windows® 98SE, 2000, XP and Vista.
    • Drivers work with Windows 7 (see Support Questions for details).
    • ASIO 2.0 compatible, with suitable software.
    • Intuitive control application for ultimate ease of use.
    • complete

    Components

DAC: Burr Brown 1794A ->Spec Sheet
Opamps: Burr Brown OPA 132 and OPA2132 ->Spec Sheet
    Opamps:5532 ->LINK
    Chipset: VIA Envy24HT ->Spec sheet
Can Amp: TI TPA6120A2 -> Spec sheet

This card has the Burr Brown DAC's set up in parrallel mono mode which simple means one DAC per each channel, this improves everything across the board for measurments and output quality.
This card has the best specs so far of modern soundcards so I am interested in finding out more about it for the Guru3D audio fourm.
I am working on getting some good pictures for the site and will post more information when it becomes available. The card was just released in July and is still rather new in comparison to others.

The company also list some expansion card coming for the Overture 192 also:

    The Concerto FM transmitter: LINK
The Tocaato Digital Input card: LINK
The Quartet Analog Input card: Link

Here is a link to the sites information: Overture 192

More information to follow stay tuned...

Update: We received some new pictures of the various sections of this card. Note: Special thanks to Andrew.

Here is a shot of the headphone amplifier:

Here is shot of the dual parallel DAC chips, as one is used for each output channel.

Here is a shot of the entire output section, we see the DACs at the bottom
Then we see the dual 5532's for I/V then the OPA132 and OPA2132 Which if I had to guess would
be a integrator and buffer. The OPA132 is a single channel chip and the 2132 is the dual channel counterpart.

Here is a shot of the three extension connectors for the above mentioned expansion cards.

Almost $500 CDN. Thing better have solid gold everything, none of that gold-plated stuff, for that price.

The dual DAC's would be pricey. I cannot find concrete info on what opamps are being used. That might also be a factor in the price.
For instanace, there are high grade audio opamps worth over $90 per channel!! So that would be almost $200 just for the buffer opamps.
That is an extreme but gives you a idea of what is possible.

The PCM1794A is a differential current output DAC part. That means it needs a active Current to Voltage conversion section(I/V).
If they used high grade audio opamps for the differential input I/V sections and single ended buffer, the price could go up very fast.

I got info back on the opamps. The overture is using OPA2132's which are very popular with many of the people doing soundcards mods.

It was talked about here awhile back. I even started a thread about it...
I honestly don't know anybody that has one and can offer an opinion. The specifications look good but that is only part of the equation.
One thing is for sure it is a very pricey internal soundcard.

Not sure. I have never tested it and have not found anybody who has.
Seems to be a decent card that has suffered from bad marketing and to high of a price.
I think you would have better luck with a high quality card and some modificaitons to get the most out of the design. The design on this card is resonable enough but there are stillmany places that could use obvious improvments.
