Hi, I have both HL2 (the one that came with CSS) and the Orange box. Now after previously installing the Orange box, steam shows in my games list HL2, EP1, EP2, Portal, TF2 and Lost Coast. I installed HL2 from that list yesterday, but I want CSS as well. I thought I'd install HL2 again from my HL2 disc (which comes with CSS). The game installed, now I have CSS in the list of installed games too, but when I double click on it, it takes me to the "buy CSS" steam page. How can I tell steam that I've already bought the game!?

You should really take this up with STEAM support.

I think I'll do that, I just tried here first to see if it's a common issue. Thanks.

yeah you need to file a support ticket. or you can try do delete/move the css folder, and see if it downloads.

Delete clientregistry.blob in the steam folder (backup it though) and reboot steam. See if that helps.

oh... good question... hm... how do I find out if I have a different account already? this would make sense...

EDIT: I just tried to retrieve a lost account on steam, using my HL2 product key and it said it sent an email to my account's email address. The problem is, that email address doesn't work for me anymore! And there's still no answer from steam either!

If you use ZoneAlarm that's your problem most likely. Turn it off while using Steam.

I don't use zonealarm... I use NOD32 and I have a problem that has nothing to do with AV. How long does it usually take to Steam support to get back to you? They seem to be rubbish!

I thought maybe he used ZA. ZA interferes with Steam sometimes so you have to turn it off.

that will take days. last time when my account was locked, they contacted me after 4 days. then i had to mail them proof i had bought the games. so in total it took me about 6 days. :(

when I had to contact steam support, they replied in under 24 hours, on a sunday too :) but then that had to do with me having problems buying a game that I was otherwise not going to buy once the weekend deal was off, so I guess they work fast when there's money in sight.

I find Steam support to be inconsistent. I've had replies within a few (6 maybe?) hours, 24 hrs, 48 hrs.... tho I'd say 24 hrs more often than not. Have you tried just uninstalling CSS from your list and reinstalling?

Yeah, I've uninstalled both HL2 and CSS and reinstalled, still the same, when I click on CSS it takes me to the steam page where I can buy the game (that I already own! lol)

Man.... this is weird. (Newsflash, huh.) I really like Steam but it sucks to be in situations that you can't fix yourself and have to rely on their support. ('nuther statement of the obvious I guess.)

I've only contacted steam twice ever but had replies in under 6 hours.
