I'm having trouble downloading. Just started noticing it. I go to download a file, the little file goes between the folders, then it says it cannot open the site or it doesn't have the right address, and to try back later. It does it on different sites. I've recently installed a new virus shield, IE 6.0, and DSL. It seems like I don't have something "ticked" right.
Thanks for any help,
i'm using the IE6.0 that is on the "Windows Update" site. I've tried a number of sites, and it won't even download a video clip to watch.
Some kind of security issue? This privacy setting stuff on IE is a little different. My normal sites don't remember me with the privacy setting on medium.
I'm trying to get a grip on how everything works with DSL. I would assume the same way as dial-up only faster. It reloads (or downloads) a page when I hit the back button. Before, it was like it was cached, so it went back right away. Too many new things at once. Can't figure out what is the culprit.
Thanks,
Are you running a firewall? or perhaps is your dsl supplier running a firewall ? We came across a problem like this when we had dsl installed and it happened to be because our dsl supplier had implemented firewall software which blocked ftp ports - they resolved the problem for us but it made me scratch my head for quite a while.
Thanks Alyson,
You might be right. I think I read something about them running a firewall. I'm not to "up" on firewalls and how they work. I guess I will go the the DSL site and do some research. If nothing else, I'll give them a call.
After installing IE 6.0, it reset my temp internet files to "0". I corrected it, and also my HTTP1.1 item was not checked in my Exploror settings.
Works now!
Thanks for all of the posts and help.
