The CPU will be a FX-8350 and too many motherboards are faulty or risky, so please recommend one.

I have ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and 0% trouble. I have mixed ram in all four slots(2xGeil and 2xKingston). 100% stable board that doesn't heat up and you have 5 years warranty.

i own many MSI, ASUS motherboard for the bottom to the top of the line, low price to higher and they all die after using moderate OC over long time. Now i use a gigabyte 970A UD3 serie with a OC for years now and it work as it's out of the box, clearly gigabyte own the crown of durability for me.

    Wow this takes me Back!....

The best Am3+ board you can get-Asus Crosshair Formula-Z
2nd-Sabertooth obviously but its pretty-much a formula-z with diffrent colors lol.
3rd-Asus M5A99X Pro-has pretty much everything the other 2 boards have.
    4th-Gigabyte 990Fx ud3
    5th-Asus M5A78L

You are rocking a Radeon 6870 still? Damm! I think you schould consider an upgrade for your video card instead.

Any of the Asus 990X/FX based mobo's are a good bet I currently run with an Crosshair V Formula and have no probs there's also the Formula z or the Sabertooth I wouldn't trust the VRMs on any 970 based mobo unless it's atleast 8 phase anything under 6 phase's and I wouldn't use anything higher than an FX6300 on it or one of the 95W TDP based FX8xxx like the 8320e or 8370e

My ASUS Crosshair V Formula is still going strong after pushing my FX-8350 @ 4.8GHz / 1.54v for the last few years

I've been very happy with my Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 allows me to clock my 8320 to 4.7 ghz on air with no problem.
