Can you actually tell a BIG difference in image quality with Radeon 64MB and Geforce2?

    I went to a computer store a few days ago
Asking to buy a new video card and they suggested me the Geforce2 GTS
For power and speed. I asked them about the Radeon and it said they wont have much power. I am worried that Radeon will LAG behind Geforce2 GTS by a lot, will it?
But the guy also told me Radeon had better image quality which was a plus but he said you really can't tell the difference because when you play games they are just about the same???? Is that true? Does that mean I should get a Geforce2 GTS because its faster and you can't really tell a difference in image quality?

  2. hey RCF, want to help me out?
I'm not sure. I have never had a GF2. But in comparison with a TNT, the Radeon has excellent image quality.
Radeon=image quality
GeForces=speed (just look at unreleased Det. 4's)

    Well the image quailtiy fo a Geforce1/2/3 are the same as a TNT, well in basic games, they will look better when games start to use Cubic mapping & NSR

    Okay Tweaker. The Radeon 64mb DDR is faster then the GF2 GTS in high res like 1600x1200. The Image Quality is great on the card make the GF2 look like a TNT.

    I had a GeForce2 GTS. The 2D sucked. The 3D was OK but I had color balance problems with it in Quake2. I couldn't run Shogun or some other programs with any drivers except the 10.8's.

I exchanged the GTS for a Radeon 64 DDR ViVo and couldn't be happier. The Radeon is a much better card. The benchmark frame rate is about 15% lower in 3DMark2000, but higher than the GTS in 3DMark2001. The Radeon does better at higher resolution and 32 bit color. Real world the Radeon has been compatible with everything I run (unlike the GeForce2). 2D is much better and 3D is better as well. I can see things in Quake2 that were not visible with the GTS. I've noticed similar things in other games, the Radeon flat out looks better although the difference is greater in 2D than 3D. I'm using stock 7075 drivers in Win98SE.
The Radeon also got rid of a cold boot problem that the GTS had with my motherboard.

  6. If the image quality DOES actuality look like a TNT...OMG!!!!!!!!
I don't really know I was just bashing the GF2.
THANK GOD I GOT A RADEON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Only 1 geforce 3 "modified" card can match the radeon in 2d. Well the the GF2 vs. Radeon in the 2d world is different.

    The Radeon beats it into a bloody pulp.
