Can NV 680i support 45nm' Quads CPU?

    It won't work properly on a 680i, if at all. Some boards only let you use 2 cores, some lock the multiplier on extremes, some only let you go up to a certain fsb. So you may as well just buy a new board, unless you want to take a massive gamble.

    hey morbias didnt you have your Q9650 on a 680i at one point?

    Ehm I have a Q9650 (E0) on a 650i at the moment. (And yeah it's non-reference motherboard from ASROCK).

    Just don't expect to OC it much I guess... :(

    I used to be able to get my E6600 (B2) stabile @ 3,375 GHz. with only 1,32vCore. but it won't lauch my Q9650 (E0) @ 400 FSB nomatter what voltage/memory speed I put in.

    So yes, the Q9650 may run on a 680i chipset. but it all depends on the cpu/motherboard. (And as all are never the same I think it's a 50/50 chance it might work ) LOL
