I don't mean he'll have to upgrade for the 4870. I mean his next upgrade after the 4870 will probably have to be a PSU.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure about it. Companies are starting to make more energy efficient products.

Not necessarily. Also, I'm not the kind of guy who upgrades every other month.

GET AT LEAST 850wt! TRUST ME ON THIS! you guys are forgetting that there is other thing running on your PC!? I mean WTH its not like the GPU is the only thing that is Hooked up to the PSU! Im sure you guys have a bunch of other things pluged in right? so take all that into consideration.!k.;)

Peezee it actually says 500w on their website.. Maybe you were looking at the HD4850? In any case, your power supply will likely work fine. If you experience and random reboots, artifacting, or just abnormally poor performance, then you should look into a new PSU.

I'll never listen to your recommendations again, and I didn't say I wanna buy a new PSU anywhere.

And thanks, honestjohn. Didn't see that since I was looking on another part of the ATI site, which had some sort of table over PSU requirements...

A PSU is not something you want to ride the line with but you'll do what your gonna do. Good luck.

Two HD 3850 is nowhere near a HD 4870 when it comes to power. He needs atleast 650W-700W or maybe more for future use.

But I'm not talking about future use...
I don't intend to upgrade every other day, I just might wanna get a HD4870 if my PSU can take it, and if it can't, I'll just not upgrade at all...

    Hi Guys.

I have also a question about PSU and HD4870

I have Tagan TG530-U15 Easycon. Can it handle 4870 ?

    easily
ur PSU can delivery 384W on 12 rails, and ur system(after upgrade) need no more than 280W max, in stress, when all devices working.
More details - look at power calc, take similiar/even parts at link u can use google translate, if it helps, language is polish

As Greg said it should work just fine providing it's good quality. According to this you have a dual-rail with 20A on each rail and provides 396W. So you have very nice healthy 33A on the combined +12v rails. Good luck with it.
