can i not have extended desktop with sli? on XP i have 2 monitors and will be geting my second card tommorow or day after can i still extend desktop to other screen in XP i have heard mixed views? thanks
I too have heard mixed views on it. But if it works anything like Crossfire, then yes you should be able to enable an extended desktop so long as the secondary monitor is plugged into the master card.
Yes but it may cause crashs so i'v heard never tryed it myself though he can surely give it ago though.
It would be interesting if we could get some verification on that from someone using SLI. Enabling the extended display prior to enabling CrossfireX works like a charm, so I would imagine SLI would be comparable.
from my experience, its a no for XP. this thread is pretty much same scenario. morbias says it can be done in vista64 http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=287746
thats quite anoying to have to turn sli off then turn other monitor on not that i need sli enabled but its just for convinience is there a way that i can like just click one thing at turns sli off and dual monitor on and visa versa ??? im crap at programing btw
what i use to do was, for daily desktop use i would disable SLI and extend my desktop. when i wanted to game, i just enable SLI agian.
no a bad plan just a bit of hastle lol i dont have extended desktop all the time just if im doing CAD or 3d design or collage work and have itunes on small screen or web and work dock on big screen so i dont have to keep flicking pages
This would be a good time for Nvidia to create NV Control Panel profiles like what there is in CCC ^_^
i just think its stupid that it dosent work lol i would think that because you have sli you would want more that 1 screen because of the extra horse power so y dosent it work on xp and does in vista ??
I would say it's either because of the drivers, the 64bit interface, or the revised API. Either way, it's quite lame.
ye im a bit full lol motherboard isent very well designed as it misses out the top exspansion bay and has no slot there for any think quite anoyin because they could have goten another pci slot on there
