What will my experience be if I upgrade my video card to a FreeSync capable card (Sapphire Radeon R9 Fury 4GB HBM) and upgrade ONE of my 3 monitors to a FreeSync capable monitor (Samsung U32E850R/31.5inch/3840x2160)? The other two monitors would remain older 20" Dell 1600x1200, connected by DP to DVI adapters.

Will I be able to use FreeSync to game on the new Samsung while the old non-FreeSync monitors are connected to the video card?

If so, will the older non-FreeSync monitors go blank, or still be usable for, say, game reference material?

    Any other words of wisdom?

    Thanks!

I would say yes. I know you can do it with G-Sync monitors.
