Despite only being able to be emulated on the pc, Fatal Frame still remains my ultimate scare-you-****less game. If you have a PS2, find the game online and buy it. It's definitely in my top 10.

This is only one review, there are hundreds. All them love it.

I think necrovision is kinda scary...at least in the beginning when the zombies show up.But, it's more of a shoot em' up game.

Here's an article from 2008 about scariest games. It has a few I never heard of.

For suspense, and to add something different. You could try the Thief series, that pretty much started the whole stealth genre.

They aren't really meant to be scary, but definitely suspensful. The atmosphere/sound is incredible and really adds to the ominous/spooky feel, and there actually are some pretty scary moments. The plots are great too, and they really feel... different. The first 2 are pretty old, but I personally think they've held up well.

Thief: Deadly Shadows (3rd in the series), for instance, has a level called Shaelbridge Cradle that has been touted as one of the scariest levels in gaming.

I'd imagine you could get all 3 of them pretty cheap at this point, used. I think Thief DS is even on steam.

I did this. Nice for the bragging rights. But **** it was terrifying in 2. 3 and 4 can't hold a candle to 2.

I would go with system shock 2, A oldie but none the less a very well thought out scary and clever game.
