These games are never more than 50% off. You're better off buying the WW2 pack from the Humble Store during their sales. I think I got COD1+expansion, COD2, and WaW for $15.

I thought the sci-fi direction they had gone was making the series interesting again. Lame that they're going back to tit for tat with Battlefield.

Oh man when did I miss that? I would have jumped on that for sure. I will have to put that bundle into my isthereanydeal.com list so I get alerted.

Almost every time the Humble store has a sale this is on the list. But yeah I've never seen ANY Call of Duty game on sale for more than 50% off.

Took them a little long to realize.
Wonder how long it will take the clowns around and including Dona Sarkar to realize the same for the path Windows 10 is on.

    @Lobbylugs: i totally agree

I've seen Ghosts for 75% but that is the only exception to the 50% rule I have seen. Probably because that particular CoD was so terrible.

True. Windows need to be on a voluntary patch notice, never include any new API, and make sure that unpatched systems can be as close as possible to all the beloved botnets we have.

In a serious note, their Insider program is unique in the industry, and if you spent a bit of time seeing UWP from a developer perspective, you would see why they most probably have the best platform available by far. Windows would be dead just with win32, and Microsoft was the first to realize that (and late at that).

I like the sci-fi direction, too.... but to be completely honest, the part that killed it for me was the "Specialists" or whatever you want to call it.... the super abilities that were either totally OP, or completely useless, without really any middle ground.

I kinda hope they don't ENTIRELY pull a Battlefield. I mean.... BF1 is nice and all.... but seriously.... i miss my freakin C4! Freakin BF3 and BF4 I'd be running around like "Ooh look, a tank... let's go f*ck up it's day." Now i'm like "Oh look, a taBLAM.... oh look, i'm dead"

Once they tuned it into halo with all the jumping over buildings i was out, lost it's core COD feeling after that for me, i like Halo but not in a COD game.

So we're going back to DX9 and Windows XP then?

    I think they were torn.

They wanted more than just a copy paste sequel, but also wanted to gain financially by a game being released every year.

Should have realised people want more of the same over and over, but slightly shinier than before.

They have done major engine revisions every release or 2. I don't think the engine is a problem so much as the substance of the games has stagnated.

I have to agree with KS, a new engine is needed.

Some of the tech in the current and proposed engine is practically 20 years old.

It's a bigger topic; what the tech in game engines consist of, and I believe that if anything is stagnating, it's game engines.

Rockstar games and a few others appear interested in new tech, CoD appear to only be interested in new pipelines. It's fallacious.

It's been pretty much rewritten though, most engines are just upgrades of the previous.
    Very few start from scratch.

It's not at the level of say Frostbite, but a new engine isn't going to change a thing.

Activision need to just cut the budget for the games if they want higher profit margins.
