So it's going to be a remaster?

 

more a soft reboot, i am thinkin new campaign ft soap and the gang fingers crossed if any of the leaks are correct.

 

Will they launch it with microtransactions or butcher the game a month after launch, again?

 

Most likely the month thing again. It lets them get a more favourable start/reviews.

There's no way multiplayer will be free to play. Nobody buys COD for the single player

It's official: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been confirmed as a "re-imagining" of the Modern Warfare series rather than a sequel with a 4 after it. And the rebooted Modern Warfare is bringing a few welcome surprises along with it, like cross-platform play and—prepare your fainting couch—no season pass.

"With the launch of Modern Warfare, the team is taking steps to unite the community. First, the team plans for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support," reads an official statement mailed to PC Gamer.

"Also, the team is eliminating the traditional season pass, so that they can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players."

And, in addition to a singleplayer campaign and several multiplayer modes (we've heard nothing about battle royale, so don't ask), Modern Warfare will also feature "an all-new cooperative play mode, featuring a collection of strategic co-op missions" that will be accessible to all skill levels, according to a fact sheet sent to PC Gamer from Activision.

Like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare will be available exclusively on Battle.net.

Interested!... Cautiously though, I consider Activision(Blizzard) worse than EA in some ways.

Cross play sounds interesting as it will increase the player pool on PC but it will be unfair on gamepad players on console. Not sure how all this will work out. Xbox and PS players together sounds great though. Season pass had to go but it's Activision so count on increasingly aggressive monetization as the months go by. Not at all interested in battle.net. I felt like my money was wasted on destiny 2 with no refunds and I've no more desire to spend money on non-Blizzard games there.

 

The best people that worked on Call of Duty are now working at Respawn on titanfall and, Apex, and Jedi Fallen order. Hard to think CoD glory days are anywhere but behind us. They need some fresh blood and ideas.

 

fresh? we in the era of remakes and remasters.

the old guard talent is largely gone, and seems to have been replaced by mostly incompetent people. a few standouts but mostly most studios have gotten middling. and execs are not big on new ips because of the risk of it bombing. vs a known quantity they can count on a fan base.

so new ips are few and far between and if any hit big well you can bet they will want more of that because consumers will want more.

but what can military style shooters do to stand out anymore in this day and age? more destructibility? seeing bullets chip away at walls would be cool, rockets and grenades blasting holes in stuff. i do not think enough games attempt this level of immersion.

but they have done every era gfx cant get that much more hd people barely using 4k and now they already pushing 8k, eh lets see true 4k vr sets, maybe 8k and see what k is best for vr and then see what hardware we need for that.

is 8k practical at all sitting 3 feet away from your monitor to game? are you going to notice 2x the detail of 4k? probably not. 4k is great for a desktop res especially if you application. but older games and some applications the UI is unreadable, photoshop cs of last year i think added UI scaling for the FIRST time? running it 1080 made the UI stuff unreadable so you had to de res your monitor to make the tools usable, less you knew them by heart. and there are tons of old games that will run into ui issues at 1080 nm 1440 and 4k resolutions.

i suppose the biggest thing they could do to bring players back though is make whole and complete games instead of piecing them out to sell as dlc. end the loot box addiction bullshit. And add meaningful single player campaigns.to these things that go beyond the 4 6 hour showcase laziness.

 

accordin to the latest GI show the game is runnin on a new engine complet with the use of real world photogrametry that will push the graphics way beyond anything Call of Duty has seen before. its MW with a stronger emphasis on character and will make us care about what happens to them as individuals once again there's rebel fighters that we will get to know there is even a section were you will play as a young child goin through a war story as it happens and you are with your family while it all goes down and you have to survive by locating and traversing tunnels while takin on bad guys with a screwdriver lol. nothin in the game is a call back to any previous MW its an all new all fresh experience.

 

advanced engine and call of duty in the same sentence is a joke. anyone remember their advanced fish AI?
