    This is so dumb. Who fault is it, Activision or Microsoft?

    No big surprise here seeing as this is not a MS game, third party not wanting to give two copies of their game away over two platforms, who would have thought. lol

    How is it giving 2 copies of their game away over 2 platforms by having you in the same playerpool together? The issue has nothing to do with any copies being free by buying from 1 storefront, it's that they don't have you play on the same servers together. It's pretty stupid, not that anyone would buy it from the Windows Store anyways, but it's another HUGE negative towards it, knowing the playerbase will be dead much quicker there with it's segmentation.

    I'm upset I bought anything from the Windows Store, but I'm a huge Gears Of War fan, so I got GOW4. The game is already just about dead on PC, because Microsoft's stubbornness in forcing Win10/Windows Store-UWP/DX12 exclusivity. Those are just too many exclusives for a game that already isn't as big as a BF or COD game. They killed the game before it launched with that, not to mention the Windows Store is horrible, and is plagued with issues from the jump, like not being able to download an app you just bought. Hopefully they hurry with this trial cross-play for Social Quickplay and extend it to ranked modes, since it's optional for X1 players anyhow.

    That's pretty dumb and it will not help Microsoft to market their store (no that I want them to).

    I have never heard of such a split in PC player base (at least with games on Steam). For instance, when you buy an Ubi game on Steam, you have to install and run Uplay to launch the game. I believe you play with every other owners of the game disregarding where they bought it.

    Didn't know this... wow, just wow. So I had AC Unity (which had MP) on Uplay for a change and I actually only played with other players having the Uplay version? That's just messed up for the end user.

    And so is this CoD Windows Store thing, even though I'm a fan of neither.

    wait what? that's wrong. rainbox six siege, division, GTA5, etc. players can play together no matter which PC platform they bought on. maybe there are exceptions with some games, but most games don't have this limitation.

    "A source familiar to the matter recently informed windowscentral that the decision to segregate Windows 10 Store and Win32 PC platform players is entirely on Activision."

    First line of the second paragraph.

    I dont think that I have played CoD game after Word at War, I think reason I stopped playing these was dropping dedicated servers. Trailers for this looked good and was thinking that perhaps I should try this new one. I have not played FPS games online for a long time so kinda curious... But that Windows Store and Steam version not being able to play together is just bull**** so will not be buying this one either.

    I also do not like to pay 60€ for an Activision game.

    Activision (or rather the development studio) didn't bother developing a backend for matchmaking that ties together steamworks and UWP (or whatever the name of the service is).

    So instead of
    Player -> UWP -> Activision Matchmaking backend
    Player -> Steamworks -> Activision Matchmaking backend

    They did
    Player -> full UWP matchmaking
    Player -> full Steamworks matchmaking

    With this being known who on earth would get it through MSStore, obviously if you want the largest player base to play with/against then you'll go to Steam to get it.

    I understand why MS wants to join the party but my Win 10 is probably never going to see any MS store as long as it's still possible to do away with it. Cut it right out of MS's OS.

    My worry is one day MS will integrate the Store so deep in the OS that it becomes impossible to remove/disable without breaking the OS by doing so.
