Call of Duty Advanced Warfare

Game is lush and once I disabled the cache stuff, worked like a charm. Really digging the campaign so far. Yummy.

 

Saw a video (TotalBiscuit?) where the VRAM reported was the full 6 GB that a Titan has whereas for me it reports some 3.5 GB.

Checked config.cfg and found the value controlling this, it's r_videoMemoryScale "0.85" so for now I've changed it to 0.95 leaving a small amount for well whatever the game does with it.
(You probably should not increase it above 1.0)

 

well, your 37% utilization doesn't rly mean anything,
even with 50% utilization you could run into a cpu limit.
(that would mean that the game can only handle 4 cores)

can you please reduce the resolution to the lowest possible
(like 640*480) , dissable AA , and watch the cpu utilization again?
with this settings the cpu utilization should be like 60%.

 

any tweaks we can do outside the options?

gotta say its pretty good option port wise, but have a lot of texture problems where the game doesn't load any textures.

i also hate fxaa, what do those other aa mean? whats mxaa 4x for me?

 

You mean disable nVidia Shader Cache?

This mouse random acceleration / spasms problem existed in Ghosts too. Here is the solution for Ghosts, perhaps it works for CodAW too.

MOUSE RANDOM ACCELERATION / SPASMS:

If the mouse movement sometimes speeds up for a while, then do the following:

(1) In file "config.cfg" change these two settings (edit it with EditPlus or NotePad++):

seta cl_mouseAccel "0"
seta r_elevatedPriority "0"

Note: The second setting makes the EXE process run at Normal priority instead of the default High (as in Windows Task Manager) and is a known fix for this problem.

(2) Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options > untick "Enhance pointer precision".

The above should fix it, but if not then try this:
- Reduce the "Polling Rate" of your mouse (using its own software) to 250Hz or 125Hz.
- Search and use "The MarkC Win7 Mouse Acceleration Fix" to remove Win7 mouse acceleration.

 

No in game there are couple of Cache option and u need to disable that.

 

Did that, CPU usage went up to 50+% GPU usage was 100% with 120-200 fps, so looks like no CPU botleneck. If the game was using only 4 cores rest of my 4 cores would be parked, CPU parks cores that are not used. If game uses only 4 cores my cpu has activity only on 4 cores, rest of them is parked, if game uses 6 cores last two are parked, and so on.

 

Watched it on Twitch for a while. Didnt really like it, not impressed by visual or gameplay. Another CoD i wont be getting.

I have a problem.

Even with the texture settings all on Extra, The game warns me that current settings may give lower texture resolution.

And sure enough in game my textures look like they are from Half Life.

What gives?

I will try settings low, med etc and see what happens

config settings are default to 0. And i did not have the enhance on.

The mouse works in cod ghosts, (did play campaign last week) and in all other games including bf4.

I have not tested other polling rate yet, but will try that next.

I would very much like to buy it but no SLI profile? Bad nVidia (if it's their fault).

 

It's basically CoD Titanfall, with jumps & everything. I might play it later when its down to 15 bucks or so.

 

Does anyone know if you use a russian key that you're locked to russian servers only?

Cause Black Ops 2 had the same, not sure about this cod.

I've got the PS4 version coming today from Amazon and by all accounts it sounds from the reviews like Sledgehammer Games have put some effort into the game this year with all versions, consoles and PC alike, being as good as they can possibly be. It certainly looks entertaining from the early YouTube walkthroughs I've watched so far (the first 40 minutes of the game) and graphically it looks very good, especially the animation and faces. It is definitely a cut above last year's disappointing Ghosts.

And in case anyone is wondering why I did not buy the PC version...well the answer is because I don't like playing games with a mouse/keyboard (I'm not a fan of digital movement) and find a controller more enjoyable for these sorts of games personally. Also, I don't play games competitively online either so I don't need precise controls anyway for playing the campaign solo.
