Yeah, this is a good one. Lol @ this having the best hit registry of any Engine. Maybe that's because there is no recoil, bullet deviation, wind factor, or physics, anything applied to it, that would be in a Modern Engine.
guys, chill... my problem with this game is that it costs £34.99 over here in the uk... Now, the only 2 cod games I actually bothered finishing in single player were cod 1 and 2. MW was great fun but far to scripted after a couple of hours, so I just couldn't be arsed. plus I never finished the ones after cos after reading the reviews, they were like 5 hours long and pretty much just same-ish. I buy cod games for mp. MW was great, I even liked mw2, but then BC2 came along and blew it out the water. big time. I'll probs still get this when it's on a sale, but purely for a mp fix. can't see how they can afford to charge £35 for this game, I mean on consoles it's fair play, all my ps3 mates are obsessed, but that's because they never played a decent shooter the way it's supposed to be played and think that cod is the pinnacle of fps gaming (which it never is even on pc, let alone on consoles with crappy resolutions, no AA/low AF and crappy controls and long loading times...).
No, in SP only. Online everything's still fubar. There's actually a workaround right now - get a Russian key ($12-25) and then install rus-to-eng patch (can be found on torrents). That's how you legally own teh full game for less than a half-price)
I don't get why people moan about recoil, and bullet deviation etc. If this was the only online FPS series available then maybe, jesus just enjoy the fact we can use remote control toy cars with bombs on them As for the hit registry, it is good, you shoot someone, they get hit. If i had a pound for everytime i've shot someone in BC2 and not got a reg i'd be rich
I'm so happy that the movement of the game is a little slower than MW2. The "special moves", like jumping into cover or over an obstacle, are very nicely implemented also. I really like the touch Treyarch gave this game Did anyone come across some Logitech G13 profiles by chance?
"Press right mouse button to reverse" "Press left mouse button to accelerate" Kinda sums up the latest Call of Duty games...
You are right on one thing, the campaign is short. But this game is all about the entertainment value. The SP here delivers that 100%, its epic, its fun, yes its scripted but so what. So was BC2's campaign. £35 is good a new game. If your thinking its just more the same as MW2 then think again. The campaign is completely different (obviously), you have Zombie mode instead of the crappy Spec Ops MW2 gave us. Then MP witj 14 new maps, new guns (some old), new player mechanics (diving into cover), lean is back, dedicated servers, better killstreaks, more balanced gameplay (no commando, one man army, etc, etc). This is by far the best COD game ever, it offers more gameplay for your money than any other.
Bought. Arrived. Installed. And it's completely unplayable. The lag I get on my machine no matter the settings on either single player or multi is beyond words. How in gods great name do you manage to release something in this form? :3eyes:
did you try this as suggested in another thread? r_multithreaded_device to "1"; instead of 0 seta r_multiGpu "0"; instead of 1 found in Steam > steamapps > common > call of duty black ops > players > config_mp(sp).cfg file
Used the tips above and this is flying along on my laptop maxed settings, 4xaa @ 1366 x 768. Really enjoying it so far and have even been playing multiplayer, havnt bothered with the online side of fps games in years, think it might be time to enjoy it again.
thanks for the reply! do you have 10.10WHQL installed , and do you have any CAP's installed ? did you force vsync through the game or through CCC ? think i will have to reinstall (as inklimited already suggested :stewpid: , sry ink , should have listened. )
*muust...resist...flaming* It's your opinion, I accept it but this game is NOT worth 60 euros, no way. This is just another release of an overmilked overhyped otherwise great series butchered for the sake of (anual) profit. The game is short, looks crap and unoptimized even though the engine is ancient. I haven't tried mp myself yet, but from what I saw and been told by friends who bought it there are problems there too. When/if Activision ever bothers with really refreshing the series even just on the visual part I might buy it, at least if the game is crap I have some eyecandy.
Did anyone encounter any lagging? I did at first even with gpu OCed. Then turned off my kaspersky secruity totally and it's fine. Set all settings to highest AA x 16 and i guess there's a bit of lag in certain scenes. For ATI users any of you enabled mlaa? I did and the sky looks out of color.
MOH2010 was a mediocre game and very unsatisfying even for someone like me. Black Ops on the other hand i like very much, sure it won't win any award but at least it's fun and satisfying, looks moderately good despite the engine, AA works fine and performance is excellent (100fps avg most of the time). still early but so far my score is 8.0/10, let's see how it fares later on.
so you didn't encounter any lagging or microstuttering? But then with your pc specs especially cpu there shouldn't be. Myabe it's more for ati users.
Does Black Ops have a multiplayer mode that let's you face AI? Essentially a "bot bash" mode on LAN or over internet? The character customization is attractive - reminds me of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (is it as good as that?) It's the only mode I enjoy playing because I really can't stand the online gaming communities anymore.
i'm guessing its an ATI issue mainly, never encountered any lagging or microstutter, only a brief pause when a checkpoint is reached and saved, other than that game is flying. i didn't really check the thread entirely but apparently those with the problem got Dualcores, a Quad often helps with this particular engine, unless of course it's something else
