I'm kinda confused here, its obvious that English isn't your primary language the way you worded that sentence, I can interpreted two ways

During a visit to brazil he shall say that. (Infering that Mr. Bush hasn't been there yet and when he gets there will make that remark)

or this

During a visit to brazil he said that. <-- i assume u meant this one.

Anyway Im curious do you just not like Bush or do you not like the US all together?

This message was edited by Optimus_Prime on 22 May 2002 10:02 PM

Nope. I live in Altdorf (bei NĂ¼rnberg) - the train I saw was leaving the train station in Feucht (they seem to have a military vehicle storage unit there or something). It was quite an amazing sight, though. It almost made me feel like Germany was about to go to war...

Dunno about CaptainStarMac, but I think the feeling in Germany (in general) is more against Bush than against the US. When Powell came to visit, no one made a big deal out of it. The same used to be the case with Clinton. The sign being held up that says "Mr. President - du bist kein Berliner" is a remark based on the comment John F. Kennedy (who was also well-liked in Germany) made in Berlin a few decades ago, "Ich bin ein Berliner." The sign translates to "Mr. President - you are not a Berliner," implying that Berlin does not accept Bush. IMHO the whole issue has to do with Germans not liking their cities to become high-security zones with military and elite police force occupation. Can't say I blame them, actually. I wouldn't be very happy if my city was filled up with military armoured vehicles, either. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was very surprised to see all the vehicles at the train station. And, quite honestly, the people in the train did not react happily towards it either. It did have a Belfast-like feeling, actually...

I don't like Bush and the american way to handle some things.
I never have been in the USA so I can't say much about the ppl there - as far as i can (chat based) they are ok.

Imagine what could had happen if Bush would have been attacked by terrorists/extremists in Germany. Because of his unpopularity the high security level was needed BUT we also have other Problems than such a state visit and for most of them is less money/time used.
Yeah, I know some people have to live with it each day of their lives - I did, both in Latin America and while I resided in Belfast...

Plus, I'm not complaining... I consider it kinda amusing that the Germans made such a mobilisation because of such an issue. IMHO it is overdone and in a way pathetic - plus, for the political parties involved it was almost a kind of suicide.

Nonetheless, I do not appreciate armoured vehicles driving through cities. Do you?
