We reached the end of the tunnel. There was nothing there, except for something that looked like a closed door. But we didn't stay long to investigate, cause as I already said, the place freaked the HELL out of us.

Now, we know of one more large bunker, which is said to be under the largest park here in Bodø. The problem is, it's considered to be very dangerous because of large deep holes in the floor. It's also said that it contains alot of water. Therefore, it's very firmly closed down. However, we'll see if we can't make our way into it - perhaps with someone who knows it, from the local history team.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks everyone, we appreciate it. It took me ALOT of time making this post, as imageshack can be a pain to use!!

I remember as a kid when I lived in Holland there were bunkers on the beach in Soutelande ( I think it's spelled) They were always sposed to be dangerous as they were sposed to have like traps, deep holes, near the entry points to stop attackers getting in.
    Even found some pics

and this has info on how the germans made them, may need a bit of translation I'd say...

Heya Bill - thanks for giving me the addy. We down in NZ have some nice emplacements around - although thankfully we never got hit by anything - although U-boats came looking. Check out this crazy lady - she goes around battlesites and visits Chernobyl - eeek!

As I said in the other thread; Stop whining.

As for these posts. Well, we've already been on two new bunker-huntings, and we have over 200 new pictures. Problem is that I'm on holiday now at my parents, which means dial-up.

John, absolutely fabulous and wicked pics! Megagreat post. A few years back (pre-digicam era unfortunately) I went up the Frech coast and checked out the same stuff. Found some weapons and old Nazi gear. Unfortunately the Frech police come and we had to give it all up. Afterwards we went to the Ardennes, where the Germans and the French battled each other fiercely in WW1. You can still find loads of stuff in the woods there. So if you ever have the chance, go and check out France's north.
Btw, the translation for the German text is:

He who wants to live shall fight, and those who will not battle in this world of eternal struggle do not desevere to be alive!

On imageshack, it says tyskerhaugen - that means German Hill in Norwegian, right? Anyway, great thread, keep those pics coming. It really is appreciated!!!!

Thanks :) Yes, as I said somewhere in that post, Tyskerhaugen means German Hill, which is a nickname the locals have given the place, of obvious reasons. I've also gotten confirmed that the large bunker with the inscription on the wall, WAS in fact a hospital.

Anyway. I'll see if I can upload the new pictures soon, cause you'll love the pics we took at Laukvika fortress. The cave systems in that hill was SPECTACULAR!

    And a shotgun. :p

But WWII is very interesting indeed. Because it's history and we should never forget about the mistakes that have been made in the past. Some people i know are calling me a Nazi, just because i'm interested about that part of history.

I still can't believe how a population can follow some guy as ugly as Hitler. He didn't care about his own people and still they were loving him.

Has anyone seen the new WWII movie "Der Untergang"?

That's one of the best WWII movies ever made and has the best actor playing Hitler ever. That guy is almost Hitler itself! His performance gave me the willies. ;)

Hey everybody, even thogh this thread has cooled off a bit, I still thought you guys mightb be interested in this website. A friend from Germany notified me of its existence.

It's pictures from different bunkers around Berlin and in East Germany. It's in German but rather selflexplanatory. Check out the link that says Panzerwracks, it's from some place where old taks are just standing around in the woods. Pretty cool!

Dude! great pics! i live in holland, and there are many bunkers around here! but there under the sand :( so its so hard to find them, most of them are very small (is a young kid i remember a place where is a bunker, but u can't reach it...) anyway i live in a small town called petten, there are many bunkers near petten at campeduin, and to they other way between petten and callantsoog...

The other thing here is, those bunkers here are empty, its so much cooler to find/see bunkers who are really untouched for over the last 50years, or even still as they are when the germans left them...
