What would you guys build for $600...MOBO/Processor/RAM only....

Everybody's got a case and presumably a good power supply...which direction would you take today assuming you will get a awesome graphics card 6 months down the line.

PS: I mean Today!...please don't comment with so and so is going to be released next year...Thanks.

    $600

    7600x or 7700x + B650 + 32GB DDR5 6000.

One day you'd be able to get upgrade to 7800x3d or Zen5 CPU's and again have a very fast system.

Socket 1700 is a dead end.

Be good to see him back....(people get wiser as they grow old Hilbert):)

My favorite member here (Oklahoma boy) swears by AMD processor with Nvidia graphics....

He is 100% right about power consumption when it comes to any gaming computer...FPS

Let's just say the performance difference between AMD and Intel at this price point is Moot.
So are thermals and power draw a factor in your decision process?
What about availability and being able to best ballance the components within cost constraints?
Finally, upgrade path, I would suggest there is a clear winner here if you are thinking of a cost effective performance upgrade in 12 - 24 months.

    MSI PRO Z790 210$
    https://www.newegg.com/intel-core-i5-14600k-core-i5-14th-gen/p/N82E16819118470?Item=N82E16819118470 14600K 316$
    G.SKILL Flare X5 Series AMD EXPO 32GB (2 x 16GB) 100$ RAM whatever RAM
DARKROCK PX4 CPU Air Cooler High-Performance 180w TDP 4 Copper Heat Pipes 20$ Cheap Cooler

equals 642$ on newegg , but theres some ''combo'' option allied when selecting all its below 600$. Kinda weird how that site works, it feels like I keep applying some 'combo' code and gets cheaper and cheaper. With 14600Kf its 590$, with 14600k its 575$.

    Very quick ''basket''.

    14600K (integrated GPU) + Z790 why not.

Edit: assuming your PSU is compatible with Z790's 2x8pin connectors above CPU. (which it won't be)
    Z690 is most compatible.

£€$600 gets you very very close to a 7800x3d 16gb based rig, if you can find a B650 Mobo for less than 150.
    600 can also get a you a 5800x3d, 32gb RAM and a X570 Mobo.

and you talking fast stuff!...maybe save on the motherboard cost and throw in a 1tb nvme...you know that sounds pretty awesome if you think about it.

    £600 gets me a R9 5950x, a B650 Matx MOBO, 32gb of 3200mhz RAM and a 1TB NVMe drive.
Great video production rig for the money
