    Hi,

I'm trying to install Ati Tray Tools (most recent beta, 1.6.9.1484) on my Win7 64bit rig. I'm doing this mostly so I can set the flip queue size (which CCC doesn't offer). The card is a Radeon HD5830 1GB. (Comp is Intel Q6600 quad core @2.4ghz; 4.5gigs ram; 650watt PSU, which is easily enough for me; hp p5bw-la basswood3g motherboard which I got 2nd hand is probably from an hp/dell machine). I used easybcd to turn of signed driver checking, and the drivers install correctly. However when I run Ati Tray Tools I get an immediate BSOD. Does this version not support HD 5xxx cards? Or am I just doing something incorrectly. Can provide more info (stop codes, memory dumps) if necessary, although off the top of my head I think the stop code was 0x1e (could be wrong).

    Thanks,
    Mark

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I did do some checking around the forums for this issue first, and didn't find much. I also didn't find much about 5xxx cards, hence my asking about support for them.

PS. If somebody knows another way to tamper with the flip queue size, by all means let me know, although I would like to get ATT working in the long run.

Open atitray.ini (in ATT's installation folder) and change opt_disable_ovr=0 to 1. Start ATT. Go to Hardware->System Information and paste here report. I did no tests with 5830 yet.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I assume I can also play around with flip-queue settings now, I just won't have access to overclocking features?

Unable to retrieve info from bios. I have a HP p5bw-la Basswood3g board. But hey, at least no crash now!

    Ok.
Seems I need to add special support for this board. Will try to find additional information

No problems with the new build now. Fan speed saves to profiles properly now too. Thanks heaps. :)

    Ram speed is doubled

I have a 5850 and when I go to change the memory speeds as soon as I hit apply att sets the memory slider to double what I set like it thinks its the dram value instead. It sets the actual values I want but it makes saving profiles difficult cause instead of it saving as 700:1000 it actually saves at 700:2000.

Never sow such behavior on 5850. Are you sure you using last version of ATT?

I'm using the one you posted here.

Edit: I reinstalled but this time I checked the option for the 4xxx series to force detect the ram as GDDR5 and it's working fine now.

Very strange, because there are no needs for HD5xxx to check this option. Can you post here SysInfo report from ATT?

Thinking about it, checking the option for the 4xxx series might not have done anything but just reinstalling it fixed it. I'll reinstall it to check.

Edit: So I reinstalled it and am 100% sure that checking that option for the 4xxx series did in fact fix it for me.

Your board has strange BIOS. Look in SysInfo
    Vram Type HyperMemory

1.6.9.1484 and latest build from yesterday (from the skydrive page) crashes on launch with a BSOD on my Win7 Ultimate x64 every time. Something with the atitray64.sys. It launches fine with overclocking disabled, e.g. not using the driver. Previous beta never gave BSOD's.

Use last ATT version. You have very old one. On SysInfo no info about ATT build and also your ATT doesn't know Core name, but it should know it if you have installed last version :)
