I know the feeling. It drove me nuts. The first PC I had a 3080 and then it was returned due to me thinking it was defective. My current PC with the 3090 did the exact same thing.

    Video not posting.
Hard shutdowns and then video would post upon a restart.
Switching Instant Game response or HDMI Deep Color Mode on and off to get a picture. (Oled TV)
Removing the HDMI Cable and inserting it back. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.
No video but yet you could hear sound.
Saying to yourself that HDMI 2.1 Sucks. (The problem had nothing to do with that of course)

My 2080ti booted up each and every time along with my Laptop so I knew it wasn't my TV.

After dealing with this nonsense on and off for months this has ended. I'm sure you've already been in contact with the manufacturer. I hope they can provide you some sort of relief. I wish I had another solution that could help.

A workaround that might help is putting your PC in sleep mode. I know it's lame but it worked until my issue was resolved.

I've asked Manuel to look up the artifact in the portal they share with AIB's so @southamptonfc can supply it to Gigabyte in a support request and get them acting on providing the updated bios.

Gigabyte usually supplies them to their windows based updater softwares sooner than on the products support page though.

Thanks, I've done that. So far, so good...

Thanks. I am just about to raise a support ticket with Gigabyte too.

Did you get the updated bios from gigabytes utility or from TPU?.

Gigabytes Utility is useless for getting updated bios. There are 4 different bios for my Aorus 3080 and it never finds any of them. I had to manually search the Gigabyte site to find them.

Do you happen to have a MSI motherboard?

I experienced the same once, turned out to be a dying motherboard.

I just recently got a Zotac 3080 and have this issue. When I restart the computer I typically have to do a second hard reboot to get the screen showing. This is with my previous PSU and a brand new one I just installed the other day. Unfortunately there is no BIOS update for my card to see if there is a fix (Zotac RTX 3080 Trinity OC LHR)

    unrelated, 3080's don't have a gop issue.

replace the bad displayport cable you're using.

That sounds like the same issue.

Is this BIOS any later than the one you already have?

GPUz reports that I am currently using the same BIOS version.

Issue only came up when I took out my 2080 and put in the 3080. Displayport cable is a 'premium' one I bought not too long ago to ensure that I had a high quality good cable. No issues whatsoever until the 3080 was installed. You could technically still be correct, but I don't really think the issue is with the cable here. If I have another DP 1.4 cable laying around I'll test that out though.

At either rate, I've learned to just do a hard reboot when needed. This doesn't happen when the computer starts from being powered off (hibernate is disabled on my system) and only seems to happen when a reboot is done, and since I always shut my computer down when I am done using it for the day it really hasn't been a big deal.
