I love the amount of detail to Half-Life. Sometimes I think older games were much more playful with the details they managed to put in. Multiplatform titles. Console users often sit further away from their screen, so UI elements have to take that into account. Plus, narrow field of view helps the frame rate. :-/
I've made to the final boss now. Phase 2 is kicking my ass Edit: Got him! With 11hp left. That was intense. Such a good game. The only part I didn't care for was Surface Tension. I never got to finish the original as I didn't have a powerful enough computer to run it, had to play at friend's house. I've been waiting for Black Mesa going on 8 years now? Worth it.
probably a longshot.. here is hoping they made enough money to bring Opposing Force back to life. they did such a good job with Black Mesa, il be happy to pay a full price on more of the same.
I wonder if that's something they actually want to take on. It's been sixteen years since Half-Life 2; Black Mesa has been on people's minds for almost a decade. I can imagine they'll support Black Mesa for a while but after that, I'm not sure if this team is looking to continue to another project or if it'll wind down instead.
A publisher should pick them up so they can go full-time imo. The re-imagining of Xen should be their golden ticket. If I ran a publishing company I'd been in talks with them already.
I'm not up to date on their situation, but aren't a lot of people at the Crowbar Collective volunteers from different countries with jobs, offering their work on the side? It never sounded to me like a group of people who you could hire. Not being negative here - awesome thing they've built - I'm just wondering aloud what their options are for future endeavors.
Looks like I can finally give the game a go, though I'm not seeing anything regarding the crashes, but maybe they were related.
Gave it another bash, managed to get through that weird cave with the power cords and the Green pipes all over the shop, with the vorts, where you have to blow those weird like air bag things up. Now in a big cave with those bloody big dudes, that fire those weird fly things, from those alien claw things (like what you have too). Ive got to be coming to the end, surely
Im on that bit in the big cave, where you go up all those travelators with those cubes n that, its mental, theres hoardes of the *******, mekon heads the lot, its great this bit
Now going up some big lift, that bit with all those bouncers, and the red bulbous jobs to shoot out, was bloody mad!
Once you are on the big lift you are basically on the beginning on the end. You'll know it by the music kicking in.
