Okay, so... delayed again. IIRC end of 2018 was "the" deadline. I can wait np, but... it's really starting to sound like a running joke isn't it. HL 3 will release sooner than Xen for BM
Damn, that looks amazing. Doubt we will ever see Opposing Force and Blue Shift like this, but can you imagine...
They've been working on some stuff...the May NEWS update has some Xen stuff. They're still working on getting the full game to Open Beta after a technical Beta test, and then... So no date set in stone.
Anyone who thinks HL3 will ever happen is living in a dream world. Valve have shown they no longer care about HL. At this point, I would rather they give it completely to the Crowbare Collective and let them make it. May take a long time, but at least we'll actually get something from people who actually care about it.
Bought it a few weeks ago, was a rushed move. I've played almost half the game, and until now pretty solid. Sold my main computer, until I will have another game will receive updates. Xen is about to be released in Q2 2019, pre-release in-game footage looks promising.
Looking forward to starting from scratch again once final release is out. Hopefully this year! Played once from start to finish and enjoyed every minute! @Rich_Guy Project Borealis is very neat and seems to come along nicely.
I watched that recent update video of Project Borealis, but i'm not getting a Half-Life feeling out of it. They seem to have gone over the top with the combat and other effects, and using Unreal Engine 4 doesn't help either. No offense to UE4, but it just doesn't mix with HL. And i know how HL feels, as i played through all of it again a couple of months ago.
HL and all its derivatives are dead as long as the original devs + $ millions for the project are not allocated to it. A competent graphics or coding engineer is not enough in and of itself. Needed as well are experts who are well versed in ensuring top quality game play and level design (which competent graphics or coding engineers may be totally clueless with). Black Mesa didnt do it for me, and that Project Borealis even more uninteresting. Just hand over any HL related projects to a big studio and lets see what they come up with. It may not be a hit, it may be a crap result, but it should still be better than anything done with shoe-string budgets and people (fans) without experience in ALL areas of game development.
lest people are trying to keep hl alive when valve has no interest. i dunno i would say valve would never work on hl 3, if they ever needed buzz, announcing hl 3 would set the internet on fire. not that they need buzz but that is a card they hold.
I wish they'd let Arkane Studios have a crack at it. Not sure they'd *want* it, but if they were allowed to do with the Half-Life universe whatever they wanted so long as it tied up the storyline, I'm sure they'd come up with something special.
Technical beta is out. Dive in, Mr Freeman.... https://steamcommunity.com/games/36...QGqBp_ByZcWRyAK1k5a9w7gbljtlJBhyJRNjklsmwbKz0
HL for me is still the most important single player game ever created. while i deeply respect those people that invest their time and effort on this project ( Borealis ), i don't think the final release will be half as worthy as a full Episode 3 game. that game should only be released by the crew that was involved in making HL2 and its episodes. if not the full crew.. than key-members\project leaders, that's my honest opinion on the HL3\Episode 3 issue. will it ever be released by valve ? i think it will. Black Mesa looks great. the most nostalgic game in my Steam list.
According to the last news, Gabe Newell would confirm the possibility of a Source 3 engine and Half-Life 3. Even if they are not developpers anymore at Valve but more games distributors and they are not running after success and money anymore.
This video features gameplay in 4k from black mesa 2019, half life 2 full remake mod, the level is the "we got hostiles", showcasing several weapons, extreme preset quality settings, and also the arrival at the army base with bombing airplane. gpu: 2x geforce 1080 SC SLI enjoy!
Texture work looks good but in order to show some engaging gameplay they should get someone who plays fps more than just 30mins a week.
