Free expansion? What's the catch?
Got to have the will power to get there
Can't wait to check this out when I get back tonight.
i'm still lvl 39 and a new expansion already? so much content and so little time
Recently gave this game a look and must say, its been a while since an MMO got my interest. But is there any way to get a guest pass or trial period to test it out? I'm curious, sure. But I'm a bit withdrawn when it comes to " pay only " options for MMO games.
I have a spare pass for EU if you want to try it, but be warned when it's called a sandbox as there is so much to do I found the first few days mind boggling. Send me a PM if you want it.
Much appreciated PM sent.
I still have no idea what to do, i'm just killing stuff and doing quests lol.
This... This almost feels like a Fantasy version of Eve online. I've just spend hours reading up on stuff while downloading the 32GB game.

Still got an EU 7 day pass going for anyone who's intrigued.
Thanks for the links, quiet helpful! i'll try those zones out and grind a little.
Any of you playing this on an SSD and notice any difference with pop-ins & texture stream?
Also, if anyone has some good UI tips and tricks for making it less cluttered - Could be nice.
First thing I recommend you do is turn off the guild notifications as guilds will be constantly at war with each other (can get irritating after the first 30mins). Also use the chat filter and add www., wvvw., .com, .c0m and daum in there and you shouldn't see any gold sellers...pure bliss.
As for the UI, you'll get used to it and you can easily turn any part of it off or re-position it using the in game options. With regards to the pop-in, it happens but when you see the size, view and openness of the world you'll be able to forgive it. One thing that can improve it though is checking the "high end mode" which increases the draw range/LOD on some buildings, objects and landscapes reducing any pop in a bit more.
Lastly, there are no lvl requirements at all...on anything really. You have to improve your gear through perseverance using black soul stones to +1 each time and make them better (+15 is highest i think) so bear that in mind if you start getting into trouble with monsters out in the world. Oh and open world PvP doesn't start till you reach lvl45 so don't be afraid to afk or just explore.
I have high 1 and high 2 in settings. I take it high 2 is the best?
Anyone have a US guest pass? I would not mind checking this out.
You can change it to very high when in game all good with textures set to high.
Fantastic suggestions man. Helped a ton to use the chat filter
btw, any idea how far behind the english version is compared to the Korean version? Just checked and saw they had many more classes than us ( ninja etc. )
They are been very aggressive with content updates, next few months we are getting 4 more classes and another expansion so we will catch up with korea in no time :3
Anyway's I love this game world it feels so alive.
Is this game a once off purchase?
How does it compare to GW2?
Yes one time purchase, I've not played gw2 for over a year now but imo bdo has a way more open world and much more fleshed out side activities like trading, fishing, breading, crafting boats!, trade routes the lot.
Thanks for the reply. So many good games out atm.
