Hi, Biostar TForce 6100 http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2539&p=2 Was wondering if anyone could help me. I building a smaller system for uni next year and im looking for a motherboard. I would like to run a Opteron 146 in this system, does anyone know if this would run ok in this motherboard, or how i could find out? Thanks
Biostar's website isn't too helpful in that respect. I can tell you they make very stable boards, if not very boring and have zero overclocking options. my guess it will work even if the bios does not show the name of the cpu correctly.
Well from what I can read in that review I posted it has good overclocking options. I hear that the Opteron 146 has great overclocking potential, if the right stepping. Your the right, the Biostar website is a bit lame, need to track someone down who has this board. Thanks for you reply. Matt
Actually, the voltage options are quite good... though its strange that Anandtech didn't include an overclocking results page, which they always do for motherboards. However, even brands that usually do support overclocking often don't in the matx format, so I guess its probably your best bet unless you see reviews for something from Asus, Abit, Epox, DFI, etc. I'd think about an Opteron 165 though, as if Q4 is any guide the dual-cores will complete dominate even in gaming. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2668&p=8 By the way, if you're looking for a good matx case this has my vote: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...&description=&srchInDesc=&minPrice=&maxPrice= I believe the 6150/430 combo is a bit more featureful, by the way: http://www.nvidia.com/page/gpu_mobo.html
Thanks, but I think the Opteron 165 would be a little too expensive for me. I have seen the case I want but its not out in the UK yet, so I'll wait untill its released. http://www.coolermaster-europe.com/...541&other_title=RC-541Centurion Micro ATX 541
