There is no AA on any cards at the moment, Nvidia or ATI.

Strange... I'm using the 196.34 beta drivers and running the game in DX10 mode with 4xAA and it is definitely working. The framerate takes a big hit though compared with the first game and hovers anywhere between 30 and 60 fps on my system. It was always 60 fps with the first game and 8xAA.

Honestly, the game is so boring. It's exactly the same game.. even all the plasmids are nearly identical.

Only an hour in, but I'll play it to the end.

The graphics have been dumbed down a little bit actually. They even mention it in IGN review.

"While the game isn't as graphically impressive as its predecessor... "

    From IGN video review.

i changed this here to 2

    under:
    [D3DDrv10.D3DRenderDevice10]

    TesselationFactor=2.0 before -> 1.0

im not quite shure if it does something, but i think the water is reacting more..because when set on 2 the frames drop when water ripples are big etc....but looks nicer i think...

need to make a video to cpmapre it ;)

maybe you can try to and see for yourself ^^

That could have affected the water tesselation effect for splashes, riples and distortions a bit, particularly under DX10 where they are a bit more impressive perhaps it uses more polygons for it and gives a smoother animation or atleast the edges of them as a result but at a slightly higher hit to the framerate.
(Bit hard to describe but the way that water shapes when you disturb it so to speak, no effect for static water sources like falls and streams but the more dynamic actual puddles like at the start of the game and as seen here and there as Rapture is a bit leaky, haha.)

On the third level now, progress is slow as I explore everywhere and without the Vita chambers and on the hardest difficulty level you have to progress fairly slow to avoid dying if the splicers are ganging up on you and especially during fights with tougher enemies.
(Big daddies can take quite a lot of punishment before falling.)

Still feels very similar to the first game if a bit tweaked even got the camera back.

EDIT: A lot of new and interesting so called "tonics" as well I do quite a bit of damage with the drill even on stronger foes with a few of those though as per above a lot of the actual "plasmids" are more or less like how they were in Bioshock 1.

Can the vita chambers be turned off like patched Bioshock 1?

Bioshock 1 just rubbed me the wrong way the entire time, since the experience was just like replaying a worse version of System Shock 2 with mouse acceleration, nearly every twist in the story is even identical, so it was pretty much a big yawn fest.

I suppose Bioshock 2 will at least have a new story, but the gameplay is still just System Shock light I assume.

wow people actually looking forward to this game?
The game being released already took me by surprise. Doesn't seem like it was hyped at all cause I barely heard anything about it (or maybe I was just blocking it out)

I thought the original was really boring...couldn't force myself to finish it. And this just looks IDENTICAL! (gameplay and everything else) It's ridiculous! They basically just created mew maps and charged full price for it. And they managed to make it even more boring by making your character a slow walking big thing :bang:

Even if I did enjoy the original there is no way I would pay full price for this.
