no download why i cant download any bios and can i flash the MSI Bios on my Powercolor HD 4850 My Powercolor is runing very stable at 670 1100 Manual 50% Modified on CCC But i would like Better to Flash it THX for your Help and Sorry For my Bad english Please Help bretware
Yes u can flash it but i dont see why u should - the msi bios uses lower idle clock but the same voltage so u will see max 1-2 degrees down. Plus i heard some stuff about using higher voltages than normal etc @ stock etc. Your best bet is modifying ur own cards bios - or the newer powecolor one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Out of topic - confirmed that the 1.0003 bioses use in dual monitor setup [not dual card] 500/993 clocks @ 1.084 voltage. Flashed my card back to original bios and connected 2nd monitor to test it. Newer bioses use high-3d setting in dual monitors. So bret what u say about this change???? :bang: Both june sapphire and powercolor bioses use 625/993 clocks... for 2 monitors why?, why?
I don"t have much time right now,but sapphire, powercolor and others have only adjusted clocks 00,01,02,03. All the other clocks are set to 625/933, While others have07,08 adjusted in different ways, The 1.084 was a bug fix but it looks it looks like the hot fix solved that. I down clocked the UVD mode, maybe too much, are you seeing problems?
One last finding - aside u folks have extreme temps [i mean hittin the 105c] i would't be so mad about ramping that fan and i hint @ the thermal cycle u put ur gpu to withstand which reportedly killed many nvidia g84 on laptops. On my case i have 69~74 idle 82 max load. Temps don't change so much so maybe that's better for the gpu. Cpu etc temps stayed the same as they were before i put the 4850 in. Many greetings
My one card set up runs about 62- 65 at idle and 78 at load. The ranges stated on the page take in to account some peoples cases cool better than others, but no one will see ranges that big.
greetings. i own sapphire version of the 4850 and i applied this bios: ( Mid range Bios, Memory clock changed to 1050, 7/30/08 660Mhz HD4850 bios, 625@933 boot clock, 190/500@1.046v 2D, 500/750@1.084 3D-Low, 660/1050 3D-High on stock voltage Saphire http://rapidshare.com/files/13372086...d_by_Bret.html Tested Clean the vent became pretty loud and seems to randomly change its speed. as soon as i start some program (a game for instance) it appears that it maxes itself out and the noise is really annoying. i followed your advice to the letter but still i get the same results. seeing the situation i applied this: Stock Clock Bios, 625Mhz HD4850 bios, 625@933 boot clock, 190/500@1.046v 2D, 500/750@1.084 3D-Low, 625/933 3D-High on stock voltage Saphire http://rapidshare.com/files/13272708...k_by_Bret.html but situation didnt change, it became worse even, with fan going to max even while its just turned on. can anyone help me restore the original settings or give some advice on this matter? thanks in advance.
To revert back to the shipped Bios see post #33 of this thread. Your first complant sounds like it could be normal, the fan speed is tied to the card temp. as the temps go up so does the fan, these Bios also run a higher run a higher fan setting. Seems half the peple love the setting and half hate it. If you like a quite computer you will hate it and you may have the wrong video card. If your machine is already a little on the loud side you should like it. The second sounds like a problem with CCC and your .XML files, because the fan settings are 100% the same.
New STOCK FAN FIXED BIOS FOR SAPPHIRE???!!!!!! http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/18298/Sapphire.HD4850.512.080618.html
btw bret i just looked ur stock sapphire bios 500/750 1.084 is wrong - it should be 500/750 1.046 and the 190/500 even lower like 0.94~6 i dont im total noob as of that as i posted in other threads the 1.084 is for 500/993 and that only for 2-monitor.
Not a offical Sapphire bios, edited MSI? About volts, you can lower your volts more but it's a zero sum game, It's volts vs. amps, and amps are heat. As volts go down amps go up.
bret - its not premodified checkmark on as rbe reports anyway tried to flash it with atiflash got an ssid error - is that the brand?
You dont need a program to mod a bios. The program is just telling you that the bios hasn't been modded using that program. The error means don't use that bios!!
Thanks once again Bretware. I DL and flashed the 660/1050 BIOS and found my fan speed% scaling very well with my GPU xC. I ran ATiTools for >10mins with 0 artifacts 43% Load@48% Fan@62C. It went like a charm. To test further I did a 120s Fur Render 99% Load@88% Fan@80C and I could observe it scaling nicely with GPU temps throughout the run. I have noticed though that the fan seems to "stutter", cutting in and out from 0%-33% at idle (0%) load@53-55C. Makes GPU-z graph coarsely oscillate, but it seems to be scaling with load/temp and I'm very happy. Will undertake take some more stress testing and see how it goes.
Make sure "ALL" your .xml files are set to 33%. CCC is not picking up the change and dose act strange sometimes after the flash. Everytime I've seen this it was CCC, If you still have problems dump CCC and your ACE folder, reload CCC and readjust the .XML. Also if you turn on overdrive you must change the new .XML that will be created. There are better instructions in this thread. Good Luck, Bretware
