hey gurus today i got my 1gb ram. now i have 1.5GB in my rig BF2 1024x768 everything on high, view distance 100% = 55fps medium, view distance 85% = 96fps all high except shodows and lighting and texture filtering medium = 78fps great, isnt it! know this dont belong in here but i am just totally happy. before that i just got 25-40fps 800x600 everything on low with 50% view distance!! excuse my bad english!
yeah .. even the demo looks awesome at high quality .. too bad i'm stuck with medium quality coz. of my ram ....
I edited the video.con to achieve video ultrahigh settings, that are impossible to set in the video options, all maxed out w/ ultrahigh settings and give me 55-60fps @ 1024x768 and 100% view distance (strike at karkand)
i oc'ed my vga very much i guess maybe thats the reason?? i have to say too i played on a 20man server big map
Yep 2gig to play with decent settings I wish instead of pushing ppl into buying new hardware, these ppl would just program games like they have to do for a xbox or ps2 i.e. no chance of upgrading and just trying to get the best out of the machine as possible. I am a massive battlefield fan and still play desert combat the best mod for any game out there. Its quite disturbing how dice/ea could then through this new one out without any QA. done. Its buggy,it will only run on uber high end systems. Sure us ppl who know the game will buy it on the strength of the previous game but it will put many a new player off as old, right off the game.
Actually all you need is 1.5 gigs, I get no lag with all the settings maxed out, it never drops below 30 fps with my 6600gt.
I've got 1Gb of RAM and the game runs fine except for the first few minutes while everything settles down. I've got my paging file on a seprate hard drive than windows and games, you could try this. My paging file does go up to around 700-1100mb, but the hard drive hardly does anything when i look at it, the led hardly flashes. 1024x768, everything on high, 2xAA 4xAF, EAX on or off, doesn't make much difference by the looks of it maybe a few extra FPS, but im getting around 50-80fps anyway, hardly drops below 30FPS of what i've seen. FRAPs reckons average FPS of 70 (not sure if its reliable).
My BF2 maxes out at 1.3GB RAM usage on a 64 player, so 1.5GB of RAM should be enough on a decently optimized windows configurration
How do you get frame rate to display? With my system BF2 runs great! only complaint about (probably the ram) is that when i turn on 2XAA or 4XAA the game will lag a little bit in the first 5 minute of the game play, after that, it'll run smoothly without lag. But if I turn the AA off then theres no lag at any point in the game. I guess i need more ram. BTW, everything is turn to the highest eye candy that is offered within OPTION>VIDEO @ 1600x1200.
BF2 maps are NOTHING compared to Maps of Joint OPerations. In Joint ops the distance between one end to the other end is like 50Square miles where as in BF2 is much much less that 50
True but Joint Ops is much less detailed, pretty low rez texures IMO and uses way less shaders. Hey darkcell or anyone that knows, what do you set in the file to open ultra mode and the file location I found 5 different video.con files?
