Well I currently have Patriot Extreme Gaming Series 6GB PC12800 Triple Channel DDR3 Memory - 1600MHz, 6144MB (3 x 2048MB), CL9 and have a few issue's that are always ram related when attempting 4 ghz OC. I want to buy CORSAIR Vengeance 12GB (6 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory Model CMZ6GX3M3A2000C10. I will get a bit more memory for virtual machines and some games can make use of it as well but will it in fact help with overclocking as well. I really appreciate any info that you have to offer.

If you are currently overclocking your ram past 1600Mhz to get your CPU to 4+Ghs then yes faster ram will help.

Or why dont you drop your ram down to a lower speed then oc your cpu

If you're not overclocking the RAM and you run it at appropriate ratio for DDR3-1600 then it should not give memory error at stock settings. If the error appears only after overclock and DRAM clocks are the same then that would indicate a problem elsewhere perhaps.. you could try playing with voltages on the board. Higher clock RAM could give you more flexibility in terms of which ratios and clocks you can achieve. Whether or not that translates into a higher overclock for you is anyone's guess...I can't say for sure.

I am currently doing just that and which is why I think I woud get a better overclock from having more headroom I am running 200 FSB X 18 currently @ 3.6 GHZ ram is at 1033 I think or somewhere close but back up to 1600 because of the 200 FSB with x 18 Multi.

Can voltage help for lowering the CAS latency as well?
