Really? Crysis 1 & 2 sounds really nice in my opinion.

I would say that Mirror's Edge is probably one of the best sounding games out there.

    Best Soundtrack - Mechwarrior 2
Best ingame sounds - STALKER COTP : Complete

I think the 'complete' series is going to raise the bar for sound...I mean seriously..the sounds were pretty good to begin with..but after the 'complete' team got their hands and minds and ears on it...I have yet to find ANYTHING that compares to it. I was a beta tester for that new MoH game and those sounds were really good...even better than BC2 I thought but the ambience in BC2 is really a kewl idea, and adds to the game with the 'war tapes' sound option, esp with headphones. yeah, but 'COTP:Complete' is probably the best sounding game Ive EVER heard. The guns punch, crispness, precise and accurate sounds, I have yet to hear anything even close.

..and when you think about it..a FPS the gun is in your hands...so it should be BLOODY ****IN LOUD, right? well...the 'complete' team got that right. I hope ppl from EA and every other developing company plays it cause they have a LOT to live up to...seriously. In fact, if BC3 doesnt have the quality in the sound, all those graphics and 'beta testing' of BC2 for BC3, will have been a waste of all our time and money, cause they still didnt get it right.

Absolutely. Even to this day, its hard to find sound as good as thief series in other games of this genre.

agree, the ice level where you start in the creaking ship and the ice cracks is very crunchy and weighted without just being overly sharp and crisp. also footfall is good.

i agree the weapons arent THE best but many other sounds are very realistic, i,e the warm jungle sounds warm if you get what i mean

The best sounding games for me are the one reminding me of my childhood. Probably Ocarina of Time. Just hearing any ocarina song from this game just makes me feel incredible. Pretty much every vantage game also. FFVII comes instantly to my mind.

ARMA 2 gets my vote. The sound of a Jet fast approaching,
passing overhead and speeding off into the distance. They
did a good job programming the way the sound behaves in
    such a scenario.

I've not heard better in any game.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent beats it. :p

Not really. Amnesia is in a class of its own. Thief is completely different from amnesia. I can't wait what they'll do with Thief 4. Hopefully, it'll be a true classic like the 1st and 2nd.

Wow, that brings back some meories and I'd have to say the most iconic sound track that I ever heard was in Legend Of Zelda: A Link to the past.

Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, never foget that Gameboy game, loved it.

Yeah, OoT makes me think of being a kid. The HD version in the making looks sweet...not complete, but playable.

Mkil: i may be blind, or just forgot, but i'm not seeing all THAT much of a difference.

Think my favorite parts of the OoT soundtrack were the warp songs. Bolero of Fire and such.
