yea dead space did sound great, arma 2 also bullets wizzing by your head etc was good with location and trying to find a sniper was always a pain in arma 2.

but sound made dead space what it was, wo the use of sound that game would not have been as creepy as it was.

Ah, Bioshock. yeah that game did sound great. The big daddies sound great.
I agree that Amnesia had great immersion.
I disagree with Kilzone 2 to an extent. I like the sound of the grenades rolling through metal rooms with echoes and things like that, but the game sounds a little muffled to me.

    Question
Are there any games that rely on surround sound to be played? That would be sweet. Maybe you have to listen for something and then track it down...any?

Metro 2033 all around good sound.

Farcry 2 has some great sound effects.

Arma 2 is pretty great as well all around - especially with booms in the distance, etc.

Nothing beats the Thief series in terms of audio immersion imo.

In terms of overall audio impression - BFBC2.
I love how precisely you can pinpoint the location of a rolling tank, bouncing grenade or a gunshot. Even on ****ty onboard audio like mine.

Nope, not a fanboy, but unlike any other dev,
they always get the sounds right, or at least better than the competition.

    V12 Rev > Gunshot ;)

Dead space and its older brother.. Not only the best sound, yet used perfectly to set up the mood of what its intended to do. Of course a 7.1 systems helps also, yet still best use of sound EVER!!

Reminds me about FC1's desert eagle. It sounded so nice and bassy.

Notable mention: GT5. In older GT games the cars sounded more realistic then let's say... need for speed, but they often lacked that "roaring" engine sound. They sounded right, yet powerless, this seems to have improved alot in GT5.

Almost all the games sounds good to me....may be because, I don't have any surround speaker setup.

I use a sennheiser HD595 headset, with my AUDIO options enabled with "Dolby Headphones" and Dolby "Natural Bass" at slider value '3'.

But for one of the games, Divinity 2..I was really surprised when I mistook for the bird chirping sound in the game to a mouse making sound in the room behind me. I even turned my head a few times until I figured out that it was in the game itself. <probably because all the other sounds in the game weren't sounding so expansive over my headphones>.

Everyone keeps saying that BC2 was this amazing sound but i never got it to sound right.
Dialogues are to low all weapons sound muffled, explosions lack that power sound.
Any config i try i get this muffled sounds. There is a huge variety of them fort sure, but they all seem to be far away from me.
Shooting a any gun is ....awful.
