What is the Driver who has the best frametimes for Maxwell cards?
Yeah, Always start with the latest.
No issues here on a GTX970
Kepler support dropped cant be long now for maxwell.
Desktop Kepler is still supported.
you don't know what you are talking about go back to amd section and stay there
I was trying to be an asshole. Dont worry about it.
yeah assholes stays in the amd section
Wow why so serius?
Amateur users with old GPUs thinking nvidia and amd should give them exclusive old drivers. Perhaps in my spare 390X system with around the same age as his 970 I should install 16.X or 17.X drivers again to be safe. Noobs logic. I cannot stand them.
PEOPLE IN "2020" SHOULD FINALLY UNDERSTAND. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE THE LATEST OS, YOU WILL USE THE LATEST DRIVER FROM GPU VENDOR.
THE OLDER THE OS USE THE SAME AGED DRIVER. THEY GO TOGETHER FOR PROPER SUPPORT AND STABILITY. THIS THREAD SHOULD BE CLOSED.
GTX 970 works fine in games I run with latest drivers (win10 1903).
As has been said, always try the latest driver. It does happen that certain games perform better on an older driver, so if there's something you're playing all day long it might warrant to try read up what driver is known to be best for that game.
There are cases where performance generally regresses with a new driver though, and that's why these threads pop up now and then. Kepler (600 series) is seven years old now and with Nvidia now supporting Turing as well, it's a risk they devote less and less resources for fixing Kepler issues that pop up.
Maxwell and Pascal are supposed to be more similar so there's a good chance Maxwell will see proper support for a good time.
Proper support means not only you are able to install latest drivers but the driver/game optimizations which maxwell isnt getting anymore. 970/980 result in poor gaming performance in latest games compared to pascal to that level that even a 1060 is beating them today.
One feature that should give Pascal an advantage compared to Maxwell in new games is that it supports Asynchronous compute and has shown a performance gain in those titles, just like the AMD cards. Modern games can be more geared towards the strengths of the newer cards, and Nvidia will of course encourage developers to use those features, even if it's making their older cards lacking support or having slow support look worse.
If you're talking about the 1060 6GB, there's only the 980 that's available with 8GB, the rest are 4GB if we exclude the Titan card.
I found this test where they also pay attention to the 970 vs 1060 6GB.
Graphics cards typically see bigger driver improvements when the architecture is still "new". When they've been out for one or two years, a 10% performance improvement for a specific game is generally considered good.
R435 is ok, at least leaked 435.27, played strange brigade with async on and vulkan and async gave me better more consistent fps.. also vulkan on top vs dx12.
That said there is still optimization or whatever going on. I will finally install 436.02 today, been away from pc these days so I didnt have chance to try them yet. But 435.27 were good as overall, that latency setting works great too.
Tried in destiny2, avp2010, and few more
what part of stay in amd section you don't undertand, stop spreading missinformation, if the 1060 beats them it's because it was made that way since the beggining.
they trade blows, yes...1060 was actually slower than 980 on a release, wither 3 isnt a good example.
And dont be so agressive i am allowed to comment on this even if its nvidia section.
if you are doing your part and help other people here you are welcome but if you are just spreading the myths and desinformation just better stay in amd section, the 10 series were a great jump in performance, the node jump helped and the rx 480 and 580 in amd part is proof of that too, or you are going to say the r9 390/390x (970/980 rivals respectively) were gimped in favor of rx 480 and 580 gpu?, of course you won't, just compare them in newer games to see if they are better than the rx 580 or 480, hell even the rx 580 blows the fury x back to the stone age in some 2019 recent games but people only test nvidia nowadays and put a blind eye on amd for this matter.
just look at this
same escenario as 1060 vs 980 today but hey, let's put all the blame to nvidia only because amd is poor people and poor people need to be defended.
hell even the 980 and 970 are older than the 390/390x by a year, just look at the release dates so even the 980 is slower is even justified because is way too old for now.
Jesus @CrazyGenio calm down. No need to be rude.
But @Undying coming in and posting to be an ass isn't cool either.
