You know what kills me about those old UT announcer sounds, is that I've played games like Counter Strike where those were modded in, and they're called Quake announcer sounds. Seriously wtf.

That's exactly what I was thinking about the death cries of the grunts in C&C1. I agree that that sound effect has been used elsewhere too.
Did you know that if you right-clicked a lot on a... what was it called again? An observer, I think. Or was it an arbiter? Well, one of those two. If you right-click a lot of times on that dude, you'll hear "I sense a soul in search of answers" at some point. But yeah, everything in those games is sooo memorable.
