Hi. Hopefully be getting a 1080p monitor on Friday, to replace my old 1024 res. CRT. And i was also thinking of a graphics card aswell, in the sub £150-£200 mark. But we'll see. lol. So the question is what graphics card do i look at? Cheers.
A few options for you to consider: - R9 380 4GB ~£160-£170. - For a similar price you can pick up a used GTX 780 from eBay which has more horsepower but always the risk buying used. - GTX 960 2GB ~£155 - my least favourite option as the 4GB versions are a bit crippled by the tiny memory bus (I have seen evidence that prove this and disprove so you decide) but 2GB of vram will not last you long if you intend on playing AAA titles. - Brand new GTX 780 £200 from OcUK. Still good price to performance. So if you want to buy new get the 380 or new 780, if you don't mind hunting on eBay for a good catch then go used GTX 780.
Freshly released AMD Radeon 380X should cover you nicely for 1080. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/amd_radeon_r9_380x_4gb_review,15.html Look for Full HD (1920x1080) benchmarks. 390 / 970 are above your budget and would be overkill for 1080 unless you need 120fps+.
On a budget, a 960 2gb version for around 190€ is the best deal. For future proofing I would advice the 4gb version. With the clearing of stocks these 2gb are being sold at very nice deals now. I am myself awaiting to buy the 380x, but I believe the price over a 960 versus the delta performance is not really worth it... but I am an ATI kinda guy
380X is like 20€ more than gtx960 4GB. That's a no brainer. Even a 380 non-x is a better choice. 960 is a bandwidth starving card that should not be recommended at that price point.
Sapphire 380X http://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-sapphire-radeon-r9-380x-nitro-dual-x-oc-pcie-30-6000mhz-gddr5-1040mhz-gpu-2048-streams-dp-hdmi-d?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CNi3jL6es8kCFSLnwgodEP0Dbg
just been reading on Fudzilla NVidia is possibly releasing a 960ti to go against the 380X the 380X is better than 960 but it really depends on the games you want to play and what game features you want Gameworks or PhysX
Idk how can you put gameworks and gtx960 in the same sentence. I heard about 960ti, they said q1 2016.
I do like the sound of the GTX 960TI coming out next year. Could be the one to wait for. Although there are some AMD LE models coming out soon aswell.
