In your opinion, which is the best PC racing sim? I just got a DFGT and wonder which games people like best.

LFS / iRacing / GTR / rFactor etc?

iRacing is the best all round right now but be warned it becomes addictive and can become expensive. But the basic package that you get is more than enough to keep you happy whilst you move up the licenses.

NetKarPro is the most "sim" though in terms of FFB and physics but it's has a small community and not very lively online. One thing i should point out is both of these sims are both online and hotlapping sims with no SP or AI.

If you want AI then try the Simbin titles, would recommend GTR2 over any of the newer Simbin games like EVO and the Race07 games.

We will have rF2 within the next few weeks and also take a look at Project CARS, still in pre-alpha but you can join up now and play the pre-alpha.

I have lots of sim stuff on my page, take a look, see what takes your fancy :)

My all time favourites are GTR2 and GT Legends. Project cars seems to have tons of potential.

Netkar. and nismoGTR's advise is spot on.

i also enjoy shift2 with some tweaks. is pretty awesome with a wheel.

pcars at this moment is too early to say much. imo it began very good in build 73 but the latest build feels odd.

and of course all simbins, rfactor are good and full of adon tracks and cars.

only prob with LFS is its slippery feel, really waiting for that new tire patch

then going for rFactor and its variants, i didnt really like em with mice and wheel is just too much work for it being gaming, also it feels lot stiffer than lfs
never really got into its hundreds of mods either, which is bit loss

i can recommend giving a go for iRacing (<- cant do that without wheel)

for the new sims on scene, im kinda clueless tbh

almost forgot richard burns rally, should be best rally sim ever made

GTR2, but I have also liked iRacing, played it for few months. RBR was also fun, but I have not played it very much as I dont have that game, few times at friends house.

Flatout is more of a pure mentalness sim than a driving sim. It is awesome though. Shame about the new one.

I like the look of iRacing but the price seems a bit much. It's the kind of game i'd remember about in a few months time and want to play but then realise i'd have to pay for it again.

I grabbed rFactor last night so i'll have a go of that when I get home.

iRacing, you get what you pay for, starter package has few cars and tracks (had for me), but you need to buy the rest. This really is not a problem and as expensive as it sounds at first. You take car, traing, train, get better lisence, buy better car... You dont need to buy all the cars and it's not recommended to do so either. Get used to one car (takes time), go into some championship with that, buy tracks which you drive there and train with that one car. Really, you dont need very many cars/year.

Yes monthly fee for a racing game is a bit strange and so is playing for every car/track, but honestly, cars and tracks are very well made, ever track is modelled (was it to 5mm) accuracy and so. Cars also are spot on. And when you start playing this, you have no need for other games :D (not playing iRacing atm).

Buy and try, but worth it.

FlatOut really is arcade game and same goes to Grid, nothing to do with simulation.

Project C.A.R.S. is awesome, still early in development but it will propably kick every other sim's ass. ^^

    netKar-Pro for me.

    Cheap and very very good.

rFactor, iRacing, GTR2, Race series, GTR evo, GT Legends are all good too but i prefer netKar.

    Never liked LFS.

DRM, HistorX and the Endurance mod are all you need for rFactor, first class mods that could easily be boxed and sold as original sims. DRM is the only reason i still have rFactor installed

Grid...you can write your car off on the first bend if you crash, unlike some other racers where you can bounce of the barriers all the way to victory(looking at Gran turismo series especially).

Its all about realtime damage in racing games if they dont have realtime damage then they aint uptodate,as no damage is circa 2003...old and lame.
