Title says it all, what is the best 250GB SATA HHD out there, witch overs good performance for it's money.
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YD Witch is the beter one off those?
The seagate 7200.10's are very fast http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148142 or for $15 more you can get the 320gb.
Ok, might look into that too, But I basicly want the most GB per $, but still do have good performance, witch means 16MB But the two I posted are both 16MB only differance is Sata or Sata II Edit: My mobo only supports SATA, so if I plug in a SATA II HDD, will that work or not?
Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500YD has 16mb cache but it also has a 5 yr warranty versus the 3 yr warranty offered on the KS i notice that the YD supports hot plug there is also a YS model that has a 5yr warranty but im not sure what is offered there as compared to the YD and yes, if you plug the SATAII drive into a SATAI connection it will work...(there is a jumper on the drive to make it run at SATAI speeds)
the RE stands for RAID Edition, if you don't know what makes it different from a regular drive, don't use it in a single drive situation. it has benefits only for raid environments, but those benefits can turn against you as a single drive.
yeah dont get the RE get this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144701 (damn thats a good deal...might have to pick one up myself lol)
I can vouch for the seagate 7200.10s VERY nice drives. I own 250 and 320gb sataII WD cavSE16s, and its a great drive aswell, but if the 72100.10s were available back then, I would not hessitate to buy one over a SE16.
I have 4 of W.D. raptors...10000rpm....really fast raid 0 setup....But the seagate barracuda 7200.10 with perpendicular recording technology the speed is even greater...only problem is the price .......as it has a 750GB capacity....its price was 24000 Rs..which is app. US 480$ ......
