You know what. For the most part, I strive in work and play. But I find on my days off that I have that extra long lay in bed in the morning and I only get half the jobs done I wanted to and I have far to many treats and then I beat my self up. Why are we hard on ourselves? Its got to be counter productive!

Because men set challenges for themselves. As kids we learn that crying about stuff won't help us. So when we want something later in life, we see obstacles in the way, we make a step by step plan how to overcome those and get to our goals in life. We define ourselves by reaching those goals and become stronger versions of ourselves.

Life itself is hard. It's endless challenge against the odds. Against the forces of nature, against other ppl, against getting older. Life is about the way, not the destination and in the end it matters how we dealt with those obstacles in life.

If I spoil myself after work, I don't feel bad, I feel good. If I spoil myself the whole day, I do feel bad.

There are mental limits and keeping the balance between "doing nothing" and "doing something" is important to me.

Made a serious decision years ago and completely stepped out of my comfort zone and emigrated.
Life, since then constantly set new challenges and kicked me in the back.
But now I realized that if one wants better, one should prepare for some tough roads.
    No pain, no gain.
To this day I think I could do even more and I watch motivational videos and realized that I didn't do anything outstanding. But also, some people never did anything in their lives.
It's a journey and those moments when you overcome hardship and share the feeling of victory with that person who was with you through and through.
Will I ever regret stepping outside the comfort zone? Yes, I will regret not doing sooner.
Even now, I struggle to get back in IT field and for this I work all day between 2 jobs. Exhausted and beaten I know that in the end it will be worth it. Never stop. Nevermind the naysayers. Just constantly chiseling me out in the shape I want to see myself in the mirror.

Some people take it a little too far. I remember a boss I had when I was a teenager would always call himself stupid out loud and lower and shake his head if he made a mistake.

And unless you're a multi-millionaire, most people can't sit around patting themselves on the back all day.

You have to be hard enough to create the motivation to get things done and to learn from your mistakes, but not so hard you become a self-loathing individual.

On a more serious note I find myself both pondering this and balancing the line between self-loathing and just thinking frack it.

    Tough topic.
