Yeah, Battlefiled V is more COD-ish than ever. And these blue face paint reminds me of the Braveheart all the time.

I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that there will be micro-transactions in Battlefiled V.
Initially I though it will be in form of DLC, but if that is out of the picture and there will be no loot boxes, I think they will try to make more money selling cosmetics directly or they will introduce some in-game currency for that purpose which you will exchange for real $$$.

Also EA is focusing more on a way to convert typical games to game as a service experience, what ever this means by EA standards. :D

Many of theirs AAA titles land pretty fast in EA/Origin Access. Almost the is no point buying their games at launch.
My guess is that they will try to get more steady income from subscriptions and micro-transactions, than just one time boost of cash from initial sales that vastly depends of title quality and its reception. They just bought a game streaming company as well.

Also, about haft of the income for Activision-Blizzard was from micro-transactions in games last year. I bet EA want a piece of this cake as well. :D

Take off your old-man pants and be a bit more fun.

No, and those people can still play BF3, 4 and 1. Those are all available to play and are pretty great games. But WW2 is such a traditional swashbuckling genre, look at the 60's and 70's movies about it. It's only in the late 90's that grimdark became a thing in WW2-media. And even then, BF1942 was comical and over the top.

We all know that's not true though. Even if they were fun back in the day, they just don't hold up anymore. Sure, we have fun playing BF1942 at our LAN parties, but it's because it's so comically borky that it's fun. Then there's BF2, noone wants to play it because it's a bit boring compared to the whacky fun of BF1942. BFBC2 and BF3 pulled the threads back together and combined the whackiness with fun gameplay, progression systems and various other things that allow players to express themselves. I for one am looking forward to making an absurd dude in BF5.

Also, it's not a cybernetic arm, it's a prosthetic. Here, have a look at stuff available :) https://goo.gl/qqP88G

The trailer looks like crap. Yeah the graphics is nice and all, but it looks like a Bad Company squad went fighting at WW2. Gameplay wise at this point it seems to be very similar to BF1, which personally I do not like. I'm hoping to see some real gameplay footage soon, but as always open beta will decide.

This slightly autistic brain is incompatible, sorry :p

I just don't understand WHY they felt like this SJW gender bullshit was needed. Almost every BF game (even Hardline, which was the previous rock bottom) sells millions of copies. This nonsense will likely not get them anything extra. I just don't get it.

Inclusivity, I guess. I just can't care. It does not even register with me. It's inconsequential to anything to do with history. BF is a fantasy. In this particular fantasy, women are fighting there as well. Cool. Let's have a clan of all women-characters.

I love that pic! In 0.001 seconds after they said no Premium, no DLC, i was like - "They are gonna start a subscription service".

Looks terrible, who did the trailer Michael Bay? Don't really mind women in a game but this just looks nothing like WW2.

Uhm yes, those people might want to play WW2 with up to date graphics and mechanics, not 1942... not everybody walking around was the one man army commando trooper. But I agree with you that it was more protrayed like a cowboy's war, and indeed it was highly irregular in many ways.
I personally don't have such a huge problem with the theme as it is, they already said with BF1 that they made some compromises between playability and historical accuracy, and after all it's a video gamen made to entertain, not to teach you about historical accurate happenings. You just have to get used to it, like many people complained about BF1 and it's theme when it was released, and eventually I found it to be very interesting too.
I just meant, that if it was the next BF:BC game, they could have maybe opted to put more focus on that coop game mode and your own company creation, even in WW2 times, that would have worked and fit pretty well with the Bad Company idea I think. Not that it couldn't work now.

This is not a good sign. Every time there are spectacular videos released before the actual game is revealed, turns out to be a big ol dud. Supposedly June 6th is when you will actually get to see actual gameplay. So I will reserve judgement until then. But I must say the "reveal" on May 23rd was less than informative and interesting. They skimmed over so much it makes me weary of the final product. All I got out of it was bullets will go thru walls and kill.. Umm ok? And I was in the Marine Corps and in Afghanistan, and I don't remember seeing any blue face paint, on either side!

I wonder if this time I should do it that way, if I decide to play this game:

    Don't preorder. That's for sure.
Don't get premium. That's for sure also since it doesn't exist :D
Don't buy the game at launch. It always too them weeks and sometimes months to get rid of the biggest bugs and crippling things like when you couldn't jump over obstacles or only in a 90° angle for a few weeks...

Yes, but there are other WW2 games in development that are more true to the war, like that one being developed by the team behind Squad. Forgot the name. Might be interesting for those people? It's of course not an arcade mad house (which I really missed in BF1, though the gunplay was very arcady, the game as a whole lacked the whacky experiences the older games gave with the vehicles).

But yes, I agree it would've been sweet if this was like a BF:BC prequel where it was like, the grandfathers of the guys from BF:BC doing a Kelly's Heroes style heist for gold in nazi germany and you had this over the top aesthetic they're going for here. I do feel that could clash quite a lot with the sombre "War Stories" style tales that they're probably going to go for. But then, that's the SP... BF1's SP was so buggy and boring that I didn't even finish the mission where you have to escort a tank.

Sooooo like every single big-budget game ever? Except they're not all duds.

Here, - this is a rundown of all kinds of gameplay mechanics from someone who has been playing the game recently and is now allowed to talk about it. LOTS of things of interest in that.

I might be wrong, but it is my understanding that it doesn't have a single-player mode, just multi-player only which if true I will not buy then.

Some of the updates the video in AlmondMan's post allude to make it sound like good old hardcore mode is the norm. I like it.

It has the same style of Singleplayer as BF1 with a bunch of different stories across the war.

Same here. Half the point of playing a game is to be someone you aren't, with abilities you don't have, and no real consequences. I'm a tall lanky white male who values intelligence above all else. I don't care to see an avatar of that. When I play an RPG, I'll often play as a non-white (or even non-human) female who is short, stout, and likes to fight her way through problems via physical force. It's more interesting to play a life that doesn't resemble your own.
Or, in games where it's 3rd-person, I'd much rather have a female character in my view the whole time. Not only is that more pleasant for me to look at, but females in games tend to be smaller/thinner, thereby taking up less screen space and giving me a visual advantage. In the vast majority of games, the stats tend to be the same regardless of which character you play as.

The new COD doesn't have singleplayer. I know nothing about the new BF but they have a record to make a campaign.

I wish they would make a game where you have to go thru time like in the Time Cop movie. You have futuristic weapons and your just over powered in the past, but you eventually need to use the old weapons after you run out of ammo. Imagine being in the Wild west tracking someone from the future down with an energy weapon. That would be sick. Going into the future and being under powered until you find a futuristic weapon. That would be an awesome game if they didn't F it up! And leave SJW out of it for God's sake! Make a great game and it will sell itself.

There was a game sort of like that, and it did sell well. It was called Timesplitters, and IMO it was one of the best FPS franchises of all time. Games today still pale in comparison to how much fun that was (hard to choose whether TS2 or TS3 is better). Usually, the weapons stayed within the era in single player, but in multiplayer you could mix and match weapons.
