FWIW the 2080 seems to get the exact same performance as the 2080Ti with DXR enabled (I haven't seen anyone mention performance with 2070 and the 2080 numbers are just random reddit people so this might be inaccurate). It's possible the bottleneck isn't the RTX 'cores' themselves but something else inherent to the architecture.

Has anyone noticed if DX12 performance with RTX disabled have become any better?

All I wish from RTX for the moment is to fix the most glaring weaknesses of traditional rendering.

    • fake/incorrect shadows
    • incorrect atmospheric/ambient light levels

You know like when it's noon at clear sunny day, the shadows should be ranging from soft/blurry to extremely sharp/well defined, with huge range in surface brightness, and when it's hazy the lightning should be soft with little difference between the dark and soft areas.

I dont think it would make a difference but it would interesting to see performance difference between multi and a single player. Also included 2070/2080.

Any news about Scaling in RTXLink for 2*2080Ti If it is 90% it will be playable in 1440P or barely in 4K

I will see tonight how BF5 is with 2x 2080 Ti cards in SLI on 3440x1440 ultrawide. Hopefully it's playable. I haven't even tried DX12 on it yet since BF1 was horrible with it.

Looks like you need NVInspector in order to use SLI corectly as there is no SLI Profile yet (a reddit user suggest to use the same parameters as BF1)

Apparently it doesn’t have SLI support yet and SLI+DXR working together is anyone’s guess.

Need Hilbert to test this to see how good or bad it is...

Hit refresh, 2080 and 2080 Ti results are already up in this article buddy.

I didn´t notice it! Thanks for the heads up!!!

Hilbert this is totally unrelated to the topic but do you know when you can expect a review of the new Noctua coolers??? I´m very interested about them. Thanks again!

What do you think seems to be the bottleneck? I just noticed HH updated his article and 2080/ti indeed seems to have similiar performance with ultra dxr. Maybe even 2070 wont be that far behind...

    1400$ 2080ti price tag well justified :D

Just saw the article and the performance hit is huge!!! This seems to confirm that it´s still to early for RT, at least for me with the current cards.
Well we have to give Nvidia kudos for getting this "party" started so let´s see how things are going to be in 3 years time.

I'd like to see what a 1080Ti does in this case....supposedly DXR has a fallback layer that allows non-raytracing cards to do raytracing anyway....that is if BF5 allows you to enable the DXR option with a 1080Ti installed ;)

Normally I would be saying people are so picky, bitter, and afraid of change, but... those performance losses are shockingly bad, even for a first iteration. Yeah, the visual effect is amazing, but I'm not willing to sacrifice half my performance so I can awe over puddles.
