    Actually I was wrong before I think that's what BF3 uses now, in BF4 it can use up to 6.7gb.. I had only FF, winamp and Steam in the background.

    No don't turn it off @ 6gb, its probably using it a lot if you get stutter, without it it would crash low memory warning.

    Imo the best option would be to get another 3x2gb kit

    I've been looking into it. But 3x2gig is more expensive then 3x4gig? Amazon seems to have best deal but it's currently $150 marked down from $220.. Last I remember ram was getting cheaper. Prices went back up?

    Can I use 12gig dominator a with 6 gig dominators if all setting are the same? I think I can do that? Would that pit extra stress on the memory controllers to have all slots filled? I remember reading a while ago it might mess with the OC

    I thought maybe you dont want to go full new and keep old :)


    Hm diff sizes can work, but you will probably need some internal cpu /memory voltage. I think 12gb should be enough, maybe keep those 6gb for backup.

    Hmm... I have 6gb system ram, and hardly to never get any stutter or anything... although I've got nothing running except the browser of course because of battlelog, and skype. But with ram prices like this, 12gb of ram aren't that expensive. I'm just not investing any more money in my rig because I want to build a new one ;)

    How is the tick rate compared to Battlefield 3? I was playing the latter yesterday and I got fed up with the tick rate; it is like my hitbox is at least 300ms behind me. And my PS3 progress and DLC didn't even carry on.

    I am skeptic about Battlefield 4. I did read about its problems and low tick rate.

    Now with the Tickrate improvements in BF4, players in closer proximity to one another "tick" faster to one another, making players more in sync with one another... players further away from one another do not tick as fast.

    Which I think makes sense, and it has improved the game drastically compared to when it was released.

    Game is in good shap at the moment I have a few friends who are trying the trial who are having a lot of fun and will probably buy.

    Personally I'm looking forward to CTE been cleaned up for full release as it has a lot of needed gameplay changes and features.

    Oh and the new snowy maps coming in Final stand DLC :3

    I played the game briefly today. I felt input lag; BF3 was more responsive. The Tickrate is still low, and I am getting shot behind cover, missing multiple shots at close range...etc. Also, the map that I tried (urban settings) was bad; I was easily getting spawn-killed, and the flags were situated in bad, overly-open areas.

    I decreased the network smoothing and set the game to low (V-sync is obviously off) and the problems were still there.


    I don't think I will buy it anytime soon (not for anything above 15$).

    Did you change the setting for the tickrate?

    by default it is low.

    That is super annoying when playing with snipers/DMRs as every bullet counts, even more.

    And that seems to be issue on close range with those guns, going through the enemy.

    I know the feeling but -> was Battlefield 3 any different? Was Bad Company 2 any different?
    They felt pretty much alike actually.

    Make sure you set pre rendered frames to 1 or 2, it's 3 by default and causes input lag.

    @radical

    Yeah pretty much add bf2 in to that as well which had pretty crappy infantry combat.

    ... some more crap which is mainly keybinds so it doesn't matter (post had to many characters).

    Who knows you might get something usefull out of it. But keep in mind, this won't make your game look more pretty. It's aimed at crisp texture/model quality while still maintaining a steady 120 fps. Now time for some games. Just finished flashing DD-WRT to my ASUS router, was a bit more work then expected.

    Any ideas why BF4 hangs on the loading text on the browser and the actual game just sits on a white screen forever and never loads ?

    Been like that for a couple weeks and Ive done a validation of game files fine

    I bought another corsair dominator 3x2gig memory kit to go along with the set I currently have. From what I read the QPI voltage is for the memory correct? The auto value is 1.1 which I've never changed. Do I need to adjust this by adding more memory to the mobo?
