You may sky rocket and killed in action wile running. They acknowledge this and they will patch it. Its a physics calculation bug.

I would really like DICE to add an option to turn OFF the PACKET LOSS ICON.

It has no use, and is a distraction.

What's the deal with the SRAW. I get taking out choppers. But I can't take out armor vehicles at all. I thought it's was like all battlefield games and hit them in the back. No matter where I hit it only does 25 hit damage. What's the trick ?

Also I saw a whole class of DMR weapons. How do you unlock those? I tried every class but there always greyest out.

Unlock first DMR by using LMG weapons if memory serves.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

So the game feels a lot smoother to me post patch and it has nothing to do with frames per second. I feel like they might have finally optimized the netcode a little and actually for real this time. I'll have to test more tomorrow but the game really is taking shape.

That being said, I'm still kind of over it :D

It does have a use. If there's nothing wrong with your connection (to the server), it won't show up.

I'm rather sure that if everyone who gets that symbol regularly took care of his/her connection, we wouldn't face any of these "netcode" issues anymore.

From my point of view it should fill the screen, just like all the medals und unlocks. People aren't aware of this issue and they're ruining the fun for others.

I usually do a tracert to the server i'm about to join to see if everything is ok. 9/10 tiimes it's fine. I haven't seen that packet loss icon since DICE added it, so that's a good sign on my end.

That's what I meant. It doesn't *have* to be there, it isn't there automatically, there's a reason for it to show up.
And, that's the good sign, when it shows up chances are good you can get right of it yourself :)

@kissshot: Maybe something to try: Turn off "differential compression" from the Windows features tab, turn off offloading of any kind in your ethernet adapter and reduce its buffer settings. If you're running multiple firewalls, make sure they'll open the ports for the game. Then try again.

I can play any multiplayer video game perfectly fine. cod, css, planetside 2... no packet loss.. yet BF4 apparently has packet loss all the time.

Battlefield 4 didn't release with this feature. it was added later.

There really should be an option to turn it off.

    Ahh.. now I remember...

You play with LMG to unlock first Shotgun xD

    *edit*

I haven't played BF4 properly in about a week, I upgraded again to Windows 8.1. I just started Origin up, got the new update, went to BattleLog, downloads web plugin, BattleLog says there is a game update... clicks it, it goes back to Origin... Game is up to date of course as I just got the game update..

    Makes it fix installation.

    Windows 8.1 Blue Screen~

    Yay~

Windows 8.1 blue Screen is a sideways sad face~ I've never seen one before...

if I ever meet the person that made it a sideways sad face I will make your face a sideways sad face.

    I think I need caffeine///

    *edit*

now it doesn't let me sign into Origin.... it says there is no internet connection.

    haha... OBVIOUSLY THERE IS.

It's not a feature, it's an indicator. Games may play fine, of course, but they'll be better without packet loss.

Did you ever happen to turn on the lag-o-meter in CoD? Would've seen the packet loss there, too.

No packet loss in call of duty.

    Finally got Origin working.....

I've spent nearly an hour tonight just trying to play Battlefield 4.

I miss the days of just installing a game and then running the game *__*

But then, in theory, it's easier nowadays with things like automatic updates and, especially "repair install".
Back in the days you had to stand up, get the box, install the game one disc after the other, download all the large patches again and hope everything works out. Maybe you missed saving your profile before hitting the "uninstall" button and started from lvl 1 again... can't say how often my profile got reset in CoD 4 and 5, for example.

PS: I think the outcome of packet loss is so severe in Battlefield as the tick rates are so low. Without any further insight on the technical details, I'd say that's a perfectly viable answer to "instant deaths" and "rubber bullets".

In cod4 I had my profile saved in a rar file just in case~

of course most of the unlocks were done over lan against another pc running the game... it was just idling on that small square map that I cant remember the name of xD

    lol.

Ahh yes.. those were the days.. the days of updates being under 100 megabytes most of the time... *wipes tear from eye*

    *edit*

    are servers still crashing?

My first game in a while and from what I can tell the server crashed/
