i was playing with cowie. Was having a kick arse time too. Great small game. Got killed, and got the death screen crash. Bummer. Other then that, its still running pretty damn good considering. Still not a game that will make me move to win 8. I may install 8 to test it on a another drive though.

Guys, installing to Win 8.1 preview is completely painless and far less hassle than it's being given credit for.

When I updated from Win 7 I got to keep all my files and installed programmes and even got to use the same graphics driver I already had installed for Win 7.

It took me less than half an hour to be fully updated (win updates and all) and back playing BF4 once again and the benefits of doing so spoke for themselves right away.

    edit: eclap knows the score.

Yeah, but tbh I always dread reinstalling Windows, but it ends up being a painless operation. My w7 install was pretty old anyway so I pulled the trigger on w8 and I'm not regretting it one bit.

What's with the smoke on the burning cars, that **** kills my frame rate, doesn't even look that good.

Also, it looks like the performance gets worse here every time they release a new patch, experiencing some stutterings that i don't remember having before, and that's weird, because everyone is saying that got better.

Yea it got lot better for me , hardly drops below 60FPS.

But i still think something is off with how much game is eating CPU , i don't think it should use that much compared to BF3 for example.
If i could offload some of that CPU work , i would easily hit 70+ FPS .

Why did you install the preview build when you could of just installed the RTM?

Yeah 7 to 8 or 8 to 8.1 RTM will work and keep most stuff (But I'd recommend a clean install, it will keep all system stuff in the .old folders too.) but unfortunately you can not upgrade from the 8.1 preview to the 8.1 RTM build.

You don't need to be. You could of easily have gotten the RTM from one of the leaked sources. I've been running it since the day after it leaked.

Or just get w8 now if you can find it cheap, 8.1 is a free upgrade.

OMG WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO BF4 !?!

It's Running just fine all of a sudden!? I did not play a couple of days coz I just got fed up of the stuttering, now I just been in and it is running great! I even went on a 64 player server and it was still absolutely fine? what the hell?

I now want to cancel all my plans for tomorrow and spend all day hammering the game I have been so deprived of lol

Been on Windows 8 Pro for over a week.

Good point. You need Windows 8 to be able to install 8.1. :)
