I got a 5850 and sometimes i get a fps drop that lasts like 3-4 seconds making everything move very slow (settings ultra), is this the stuttering you guys speak of?

5850 cant handle ultra textures, you're out of vram

    This

AMD 7000 series will have 2gb of Vram from mid to high end, it'll be a tempting upgrade

Well, it's a BUG , only present in SP I think, so 2GB, 4GB, 10GB VRAM ... you name it won't help. I was forced to add another 8GB of DDRIII RAM just to play BF3 on ultra. So who's gona buy 16 gigs of RAM to play BF3?

Thx for confirming. But does the same theory apply to ingame Antialiasing? I've always wanted to have at least 2x (or 4x if possible).

    A GTX 570 can't handle x4 AA, so... no.

Confirming what? If you VRAM is not enough it will lead to using system RAM for textures and slowdown. It simply doesn't work man! You will be thrown away immediately by ATI drivers if you put settings above "High" in SP. There is only a BUG to confirm, nothing else and it took so long for DICE to fix it. Some of us did major PC upgrade just to play BF on max settings and we can't do that whole 3 weeks. :booty:

Yeh man! I am mad. Did two last minute hardware upgrades to compensate for DICE bugs : adding SSD cache and another 8GB RAM and it all turns out disastrous. Intel RST/SRT drivers are incompatible with ATI 11.10 WHQL graphics drivers and the additional set of 2x4GB of RAM were POS, some huge increase of voltage was needed for them to operate DDR3 @1600 : originally from 1.5V , up to 1.67V.

    Most performance-geared DDR3 1333 and 1600 chips require 1.65-1.66v. My 1600 DDR mem does.

    Not necessarily...good quality DDR3 only needs 1.5v.

can someone tell what difference it takes textures from high to ultra? :) isnt it only some more filtering ? or maybe more layers /variety of textures? i doubt it has bigger resolution, i use HIGH and they are ****ing cool and detailed on zoom..hm
btw. using ultra for meshes, effects, terrain, other on high and it runs 60 fps on 5850 at 850mhz

to be more specific, the quality allows them to set certain timings at certain voltages, for example

    9-9-9 1.5v
    8-8-8 1.6v
    7-8-7 1.65v

those could all be the same chips, all at 1600mhz
