It's real. Sadly.
Dice's official trailer, minute 1:30
Same, i grabbed bf5 for 24 euros on origin
I remember those days, damn they were awesome. The real sad part is that it's not just shooters, it's all genres getting more and more dumbed down, nobody taking "risks", everybody just copying each other, and even worse is the trend of getting mobile gaming (the absolute cancer of gaming) gimmicks into desktop games.
Sure there is the occasional gem, but it's in a sea of crap. Sad times indeed, and no it's not rose tinted glasses I'm afraid.
So if you want to beat the hackers just sell a hack?
WTF is that??!!!!!
I'm not here to trash BF. I was really hoping they were gonna do it right. Loved the crap out of the older BF titles.
2042 may be the last dying gasp for BF.
I have recently played Hell Let Loose and while the game has it's own issues it does other things so very well, in a BF-ish kinda way. Squads, classes and teamwork.
Whys is this so hard to do?
As with many things what's old is new again. If I wanted to play Apex...I would. If I wanted a battle royal, they already exist.
For me it's the over saturation and bloat of features that ultimately don't really help gameplay. There was something simple and basic about old shooters. Plenty of original thought processes and tactical problem solving, now it's like gimmick nr 24 counters nr 2 and... ugh rock paper scissor gameplay... yuck.
I have several thousands of hours in BF games.
Some of the best moments playing online were in BF.
For a moment, I was really hopeful that BF 2042 would be the return to form.
Not only that, but after I quit RSS over a year ago, I have barely played online on any FPS.
So a new BF would be just perfect.
But not this poor excuse of a game, that has little more than the name of the saga.
It really sucks that Dice is screwing this so badly.
I just remembered, EA made a FIFA boss the head of DICE, Ghost Games and Criterion Games in 2019... so the changes we are now seeing to the basic formula of what makes Battlefield "Battlefield" is because of that, this is the first Battlefield video game released with someone in charge of DICE that has the mindset of FIFA sports video games.
Can t someone send the guy a message, to at least make the game like bf4 with some finetuning, classes, balance, etc...?
Wow a 3090 only managing 100 fps in the beta says a lot about the state of the game, i don t see how the final game will be performing like bf5...they clearly squeezed the engine until there s no more juice i guess...
@ramthegamer I guess that’s what everyone had been hoping for…
Yes, portal, but who’s going to host those matches? And how would you find/fill private servers with fully customized settings?
I wonder why they aren't uploading the videos in 60FPS. Especially the specialists video, doesn't look smooth. Looks like there are some FPS drops actually.
Or bad frame pacing.
Performance was utter crap across the board. The odd thing was that changing the graphics settings from ultra > low didn't have any impact on fps (literally nothing).
GPU usage was hovering around 70%. Disabling the steam/origin in-game overlay helped a bit (with it enabled gpu usage was even lower). I was averaging about 80fps with dips to 55fps at 3440x1440 on a 3090.
Pulled the plug, canceled pre-order. This specialist wall hack was the final blow.
The franchise is doing a complete 180° compared to BFV (which i liked).
Damn the downfall of this games hype is seriously something else.
The trailers looked amazing, then we got the worst "BETA" to ever grace our hard drives, and now this specialist video is just the icing on the cake giving characters literal wallhacks. Bye bye BF, it's been nice knowing you.
It doesn't even look very good. Compared to BF5 or even BF4. Bloom seems to be enabled to 100% too.
What I meant was the trailers were well crafted, they chose key moments and played toward the hardcore fan base of the older games. But I agree, after playing the beta the graphics are a massive let down. The maps in particular is terrible, they have far too much open space with nothing inside them. This is a damn shame to see this game failing so hard. Lets hope they can prove us wrong upon release.
I'm a little disappointed. I was going to buy this game on release but maybe some other time when it's on sale for like $30-$40.
Performance was crap in the BETA and the game didn't look that much better than BFV. The only way I'd play this game is using 4xDSR @ 1080p because the TAA+Sharpening filter was so bad.
The flags are spread too far apart or the map is too big even with 128 players. I spent way too much time running from one flag to another. Literal military combat running simulator. Dice should throw in the option to ask the specialists if their feet hurt. The 64-player map on last gen consoles looked way better balanced for the number of players.
