i always prefferred when we had 42 players in bf4, game play felt so satisfying , up until 46 players, i found it good, more than that, it was a bit of a frenzy on screen, with not really knowing what s going on and dying way too much without knowing from where i was shot, 46 players i think is good for map sizes like siege of shanghai and zavod
Some of the maps are way too open, i'll admit that, but at the same time I don't really have a hard time finding trouble or getting into a good spot for a fight. I think it comes down to just how you play. Seems a lot of people just want metro maps where they don't even have to think where they are going, just go straight, enemy is there. The new map set in South Africa though is done really nice. Not too big and not too small, has enough different places to go and suits a sorts of play styles. so seems they are taking the right path in terms of design. but moaning about the game being bad just because you're standing out in the open and getting shot doesn't really help either. Adapt and play accordingly. As for Shanghai and Zavod, I loved those maps. especially Zavod, the size and play count was like @ramthegamer said, perfect.
I suddenly get a black screen crash. in the middle of a game. Audio still playing but no picture.. Anyone else experience this.. Others over at EA forum has the same problem.
Zavod... the best BF map ever... BF2042 has the most boring and dull looking maps of any BF game.. TDM is back in BF2042 and thats the only game I play.. WTF did EA not launch TDM in the first place...
This is wrong, there is an in between you know, that's just the OTHER extreme which has highlighted the current extreme.. I could play Rotterdam, Devastation, Al Marj, Underground, even Provence, Narvik and Marita, in circles because they were still 64 man Conquest with tons (AND TONS) of options, and tons of action and always something to do and somewhere to go in good time and they offered real choice for various play styles, there was still the random deaths it's BF and an FPS! that's never gonna change but it's the AMOUNT! You see luck, good or bad, could not last for long in that scenario, even when totally pinned in at spawn it was a GREAT battle! Sure you weren't gonna win the game but heck the battle and fun was EPIC! (the sign of well designed map and game) Oh dear. Moving on, I am still playing LOL I absolutely LOVE the game, I honestly think it's brilliant, bar what I've already stated. Some maps are definitely more painful than others but my opinion stands strong. I have also changed class to the one who drops that insertion thing (see, adapting TaskMaster!)
I did say some of the maps are too big, but I personally don't have any trouble with random deaths not knowing from where (I mean the game shows who killed you and form where). There is also tons of action on this BF and plenty of options to maneuver if you try to find them. I mean Provence for example, its just the same as any generic FPS map, it has an open part and a street/housing part. Nothing too astonishing about it and I can say the same for a lot of the bf2042 maps aside form hour glass which is REALLY open and aside form the the stadium, don't have any really closed off areas. I've had more open ground deaths in BFV more than any other BF to be entirely honest, but in the end I don't think the game is bad because of that, just the way it is. After trying to not go to the open area and try to be more alert, then those deaths slowly declined, but still there of course. But I still don't think it makes the entire game bad. That's just my opinion and I don't disagree or agree with you entirely. So you can "Oh Dear" all you want, but wont change the deep and heated love I have for you.

Portal mode prevents me from going back to new CoD. I don't understand how someone doesn't have a wise and smart in EA/Dice and do not suggest a remake of all maps, sides and other things from BF2 to the new BF??? They would have GOTY for sure. Whoever designed those great maps for BF2 should be brought back into the game
I will give credit to EA/DICE for not giving up on 2042. I assume they put most of thier resources/people on fixing the core gameplay since release. Hopefully they will now have the time to create good maps and a choice for severs with a 64 man limit. Looked at the EA 2042 forums last night and a common complaint is the chaos created by the 128 man servers. Some balance issues still remain especially with vehicles. While they have always been strong in the series, the self repairing thing for vehicles needs to go. But overall, the game is fun to play.
Bruh.... Give me Rotterdam with 128 players ALL DAY baby LOL - I agree though, CHOICE the the key, it's the only thing which keeps the majority happy. Not meeting in the middle and forcing every one to do the same thing (this method is simply corporate geed/player retention think, with regards to 'player base' - we have crossplay now, they should DROP the 'player base' arguments IMO, or admit Crossplay is a lie? OR admit the player base is miniscule, OR admit they want such strict SBMM it crunches the player base to bugger all)
Anyone played around with the Portal or played on Portal servers? Looks interesting and customizeable such as player count.
As expected, my first run end with being killed by sniper. Like with all previous similar games, uninstalled!
I totally feel you, it can be infuriating, but if you stick with it you will find some epic moments, but yeah initially, if you're used to controlling the map/angles/lines of sight etc, you're gonna just feel like it's all luck for a while - who see's who first. It takes time, you'd enjoy BFV maps more if you're this way inclined - even they are crazy but nothing like 2042 maps. I have always found there is quite a lengthy push through period with BF for infantry players, getting to know the map is key, but about 8-10 times longer than COD due to those insane number of lines of sight. BFV has ZERO SBMM as well and a server browser so you can find the maps you enjoy. Due to SBMM they had to drop the server browser in 2042 for the matchmaking process. Sad times
Snipers have always been a PIA in BF games. Never run is a straight line and never stand still for more than a brief period of time. I mark them bush wookies whenever possible and let another bush wookie worry about them. Also takes a bit of time to unlock the weapons and attachments to be more competitive. As usual, takes some time to get to know the game meta and maps.
