Exactly. I've not paid for a game in like 5 years. Well i bought something in PoE because i had so much fun playing it i felt guilty not giving them at least a little something. I'm a game pass subscriber though cause i think it's a great service but outside of that i'm not paying the big studios for games anymore.

I never thought i would see the day that Battlefield sunk this low. EA/DICE should have stuck with the developer team who made Battlefield 5.

    Loving the journalism, lol.

Castration is not actually mentioned but a vasectomy of men until they decide they want to be fathers. Vasectomy is indeed reversible and reversibility in the window of 10 years has 95% success rate (it starts dropping off after that). The proposition is more than valid to be looked at.

How about we let people to do or don't do to their own bodies what they want? I think that's a novel idea.

When you think about it, it's sort of like how people that are not gamers have hijacked Battlefield to use as a means of creating another recurrent monetization system, video games that have become popular by way of using addictive gameplay mechanics that make dirty money, video games that implement certain types of monetization systems that sell the player a color or an alternative texture for the price of full video games, EA sees that and says I want that turn this game into that game.

The least amount of effort for the most amount of money, selling online shops that happen to have a video game attached... this is what EA is obsessed with now.

I honestly don't think I will ever purchase a Battlefield video game ever again, DICE no longer makes Battlefield video games, the name is just being used to sell something that is not a Battlefield video game.

Just because you see the end goal, does not mean you have to rush to it - let's let this game play out for longer and see if anyone makes a fumble or not.

And...I am very surprised you are allowed to have that avatar, considering where the uncropped photo came from. I honestly did not know who your avatar was, and thought it might be a pop star whose career took a dive and out of mockery, you have it as an avatar.

Sadly not, it turned out that avatar is a 'teen porn actress' and I have to say, it does not bode well when someone has a teen porn actress for an avatar...especially when this one in particular dresses like a 16 year old girl on purpose...and it's your avatar.

She might be a super-famous teen porn actress making millions more than I will ever see in my life, but still...it's a teen porn actress as an avatar.

Why did you chose that as an avatar?

    Back on Topic:-

    The frostbite engine is bad.

The Frostbite game engine is better than anything else on the market by a long distance.

Evidence to the contrary - but it does raise a series of interesting questions:

What was the evolution of the Frostbite game engine?
Where did the code originally come from?
What was/has been added to the code over time?
What was/is EA's involvement, contract, SDK injections for developers of EA-published games?
How was the frostbite engine paid for?
What was the deal EA had with DICE, regarding Frostbite and third party developers?
How counter-productive is this 'better-than-anything-else-on-the-market-by-a-long-distance' engine?
What was the impact of the Frostbite engine for the developers of "Anthem"?

Y'see, Frostbite goes back, way way way back - and that code is totally not worth the time and effort anno 2021.

Unreal Engine is so logically laid out, that working on it would be akin to going from East to Western Germany in the 1960's. One is grey, uninspiring and deeply depressing - the other is full of life, color, porn, beer and freedom.

    It's that bad.

    Just to demo this point:

What happens in this video would be impossible inside of Frostbite in the same period of time. Impossible.

And I challenge EA/DICE/THE INTERNET to prove me wrong.

Gauntlet laid - anyone gonna pick it up?

    Thought not.

If you were to tell me this several years ago, I might have agreed.
But today, their engine is far from the best.
When I remember the stutter fest that was BF1 and BFV in DX12 mode....

I'd probably scrap the 2 ubisoft games from that list, and put something like RDR2 there instead, but in agree with your point :D Fortunately there are still really good games being made, not just cash grabs.

Outside of DICE Sweden, who created the thing, what other dev has successfully moved to Frostbite?

Dragon Age: Inquisition was a mess - they blamed Frostbite. ME: Andromeda was a mess - they blamed Frostbite. Anthem got completely cancelled - devs essentially blamed Frostbite.

There's tons of complaints from FIFA players when that game switched to Frostbite - in fact I can still find posts about the engine from even the new versions. Ghost Games talked about the numerous challenges of using Frostbite with Need for Speed. I'm sure I can find a bunch of Madden complaints as well.

I've honestly never seen so many AAA game developers directly blame an engine for their game woes/issues or even talk about a game engine negatively before like they have for Frostbite.

Typically developers comment on engines like "Snowdrop is great, it allows us to build NY at an amazing scale".. "Unreal 4 allowed us to not have to write C++ code and just bluerpint everything!" "Unity allowed us to make 500,000 free to play games in 13 days!" yadada. With Frostbite it's always like "Our game sucks because we spent like 5 years trying to animate a horse in frostbite" or ""Frostbite doesn't really understand the idea of stats or items or saving a game, conversations, cutscenes. Which may or may not be critical in our RPG game"

Can you even show me one other AAA developer solely blaming the game engine on the failure of the game? Let alone like 3-4 separate games?

Mass Effect Andromeda was another great mess, being Frostbite one of the main reasons.
Anthem also had some problems, though not as big as other games.
