I use a controller for all 3rd person games. It's much easier.
Indeed. I couldn't imagine playing most PC games with just a mouse and keyboard these days. Maybe back in 2004, yes, but now most games are geared toward the controller and work better with it IMO. Imagine playing FIFA 12 or Need for Speed: The Run with a keyboard and mouse?
All third person games are geared towards it, and work better that way as aiming isn't usually priority, while things like analog movement tend to be important.
I'm the only person out of everyone i know who like both pad and mouse/kb for FPS's, everyone else is die hard one way, or the other, while i'm not happy unless i can use both at the same time.
Its the analog movement you need for these games as Redemption said, WASD doesnt cut it. I'm finding it hard to adjust to looking with the stick though, there doesn't appear to be a way around this at the moment though.
3rd person games, yes, but first person? no.
Cant see me perserving with this, I might switch between the two depending on the situation.
Great game all the same, I prefer this to Skyrim he he.
I played this, as well as Assassin's Creed, with a mouse + keyboard, and it was totally fine. I can get 70+ combo in this game without a problem.
To be honest, it's not the mouse I dislike, it offers a level of precision the analogue control obviously cannot. No, it's the keyboard I despise for movement as four digital directions and one speed of movement makes it feels so unnatural and 1990s. It would be like playing a non-2D game using a D-pad on a controller, which works the same way, something I wouldn't do either.
I hope someone manages to combine the precision of a mouse with the analogue movement and face/trigger buttons of an Xbox 360 controller as that would be a near-perfect combination IMO. Combined with a clip-on keypad the Xbox 360 controller would then allow the use of keyboard shortcuts in PC games as well (I really ought to try mine as I've never thought to test it on the PC).
i play it with mouse and keyboard to, never had an issue although i have a xbox360 gamepad.
You don't even have to download anything. Just deleting the file has the same effect.
Who's gonna be the first to try it? :nerd:
NOTICE!! I also don't download because in physics APEX mafia dll is worse than original. - Investigation: boosting fps in Batman: Arkham City with APEX .dlls from Mafia II
HaHa, that looks pretty sweet, the 4 buttons look like they could cause some issues initially.
They look quite awkward and close together, but that is the nearest thing to the best of both worlds i have yet saw.
Wish i could try it out, but a little expensive until i know how well it works.
The earlier versions of Splinter Cell solved this nicely by using the mouse wheel for adjusting movement speed. I have no idea why no developer does this anymore; it was perfect.
A bit of a bonkers way around this might be to use TrackIR or a Kinect slaved to the mouse for view movement with your head whilst still using a gamepad. It may seem a bit extreme but could be worth trying if you own either of these (I almost bagged a Kinect free off a friend but she's got rid of it now, grr).
Sorry mate didn't see that! Doesn't seem too expensive, personally I'd have to have a go myself before I'd get one though.
I came back on the thread to ask for fighting tips really, I still have trouble chaining up strikes on those challenge rooms.
I haven't had time to play the game yet. Have they fixed the performance issues with dx11 yet?
They released a patch but it didn't help much.
I am going to play the game with a keyboard and mouse. I did not have any
trouble with Arkham Asylum.
I just got the game installed and all I did was run a benchmark to see how
this new rig was going to do in this game.
I have al the DX 11 stuff on and the PhysX on High.
You can see in the screenshots Evga Precision is running
GPU 1 is my GTX 570
GPU 2 is my GTX 260 as a dedicated phsyx card
The benchmark looks stunning in motion and crap is flying everywhere...I am
stoked to play this game. I will play it after L.A. Noire
Batman Arkham City Benchmark
At one point my GTX 570 was at 98%
At the highest point that I saw, the GTX 260 was at 37%
