I posted that on the previous page. That comment was made by the Executive producer, so not a techie. I'm sure the game could run on current gen consoles with a lot of compromises, but it's good that Larian is focusing on releasing the game on PC and Stadia first. If it was coming out for current gen the game would likely be significantly delayed. It's best for them to release it on next gen consoles instead, so they don't have to make compromises.
The Stadia Exclusive features are the compression artifacts i'm guessing?
Maybe that is why it's turn based this time around? because of stadia... that way latency isn't an issue.
No. Has nothing to do with stadia or “restrictions“.
No, but I recently started Pillars of Eternity 2. Played only for a bit tho. Shipwreck, got to the first town. Really good so far.
Well, I had no hopes of them actually retaining the active real time turn based system, so I can't say that I'm surprised, but I'm still a bit sad. I prefer that one on BG. Oh well, it could have been worse.
Looks like they are aiming for a 4 party system for now, with the potential to increase it up to 6. Personally, I hope they go for a 6 party system so you can have more difficult and complex encounters. My ideal party could consist of two martial classes (paladin and fighter or barbarian), two spell casters (cleric and mage), one rogue and a bard.
Does anyone know what the ideal number of party members is for the D&D 5e board game?
Maybe I will get to these turn-based games once I retire lmao
For those that were complaining about the title of the game being "Baldur's Gate 3" and ostensibly having no relation to the previous BG games, the head of Larian said this in a reddit AMA. Looks like there will be returning characters from the BG series, and BG3 is intimately related to the events in BG1 and BG2 somehow.
This is getting interesting!
own bg on disk but fallout came out i think. ;p
i never got very far into bg. probably still have the 6 cds or w/e.

EA postponed, wont hit august. More details 18th august.
This is gonna be awesome!!
Early access tomorrow!
Awesome! Now I only have to wait for a year or so for a definitive edition and start playing!
I've played through Divinity Original Sin this summer and am about halfway in DOS 2. Even though the main story is not that engaging in both games, the side or smaller quests are quite fund and diverse. The gameplay is of course spot-on and as old school as it can get, which I love. So I have high hope for Larian to do a good if not great job with this one too. But I agree that it's probably best to wait for a "definitive" edition, since these games by nature tend to be super buggy at first, due to their complexity and the fact that it's a small studio.
Here is the release time

Did anyone here purchase Divinity Original Sin 2 when it launched in early access back then? If you did, do you remember how it was? Content wise - Stability etc. I only purchased it after it had finished early access.
I'm excited for Baldur's Gate 3, but I have no idea on what to expect from it since its early access.
