Hey guys, recently got a kit of g.skill (3600C14D32GVK) mem, which I am pretty sure is b-die, that simply refuses to run 1t, 1:1, no matter what I try. It's amazing otherwise at 2t, hitting 4000Mhz xmp2 with only a tiny bump to cl15. I have found the hit from gear 2 absolutely insane to overcome so that is definitely a no go. Fairly positive it's a mobo/cpu limitation but is there something I am missing and should try, or should I just be happy with it? Was kinda hoping for 3800/c14/1T Edit: Attempting on a 12700k/asus z690 tuf
Well you gave no clue on what you are running.I will assume Intel and new 12th Gen and it is Dual Rank. For Dual Rank CL 14 3600Mhz should not need a bunch of SA voltage,no more than 1.15v but you may have a Asus/Gigabyte board which on some BIOS may only do Dual Rank CL14 3200Mhz/CL14 3600Mhz Try all BIOS available,if that does not work Increase SA Voltage. IF that does not work lower to CL14 3200Mhz EG: I need SA Voltage of greater than 1.45v to run Gear 1 CL14 4000Mhz. Added hardware, my fault. Will try messing with sa voltage and then timings. thanks Edit- Not a voltage issue i think. I can crank voltages and drop timings to crap levels with zero luck. It simply refuses to boot.
Well it is dual rank ram,start from 2133Mhz auto settings. Then try 2400Mhz,2666Mhz,2933Mhz until boot fail,see how far you get.
True but my older ripjaws were also (hynix 39-19-19-16) and could do 3700,1t, 1:1 everything without issue. But honestly gear 1, 1t, with this combo is a definite no go. No matter the voltage and timings my monitor will not even flicker on.
Are you saying your older ripjaws that were dual rank (hynix 39-19-19-16) and could do 3700,1t, 1:1 everything without issue,could run on that same motherboard and CPU. I would be surprise as crap if this is what you meant. There is a big difference between 12900 and older CPU's when it comes to memory.
CR1 is said to not work with Alder Lake Gear 1. Though I'm not aware of any noteworthy performance gains by CR1 anyway with recent CPUs.
CR1 works fine up until 3733. Past that it will be impossible. Gear 1 will be limited to 4266 or 4400 on really good cpus. Average will be less than that.
Yup 3733 was exactly the limit they would do. These will not even turn over at those timings and 3600. Hoping it's a bios issue but either way it is faster at 4000/2t
