The Seagate 1500 drives is a pretty decent sample size already. The HGST one looks bad because all the drives were only put in use last year, yet already over 5% failed. It was a small sample size, so it certainly suggests it's either a bad batch or there's a design error.

The worse seagate are ultra low price, when you buy a HDD that cost near 50% of the regular one from seagate, you know that there is more risk...
I am more happy for them with the main line and pro line result compared to other brand.

how do you figure when they deploy three to four times more hard drive than anybody else so if you were to average out the same amount of drive from each other manufacturer it would be about close to the same.

These stats are skewed by those drives reported as failed but which actually did not actually fail at all, but were replaced in data-center for a new drive anyway, because those working there for minimum wages take the drives out, report them as failed, and sell the drives themselves on second-hand market... its an easy scam and very profitable one ;)

Seagate has the reputation of being crap. for at least over a decade already. That does deserve a award i think!
